After going strong for 8 months, I decided he needed to get to know my family. My plan was to invite him over to our annual family barbecue. I was so excited! I knew my parents would love Luke way more than they ever did Jeff or so I thought. As Luke walks in my mom greets him, "Hello sweetheart, Make yourself at home" she said. My dad walks in the room to quite a surprise. "Hi there" my dad said as he saw Luke sitting in his backyard. Luke replies cordially, " Hello Mr. Mercer." My dad didn't utter another word to Luke that day. However, he did glance at us quite often. I didn't think much of it. Maybe his intentions were to protect my innocence. Maybe it would just take some time to warm up to Luke like he did with Jeff. I had no worries. Life was better than it had ever been.
