Lady Melody Meets the Royals

The next day, the princes and princesses had just arrived at school. Sofia went up to Hugo as Axel was helping him get down from the coach.

"Feeling better, Sofia?" Hugo asked.

"Fine, thank you," Sofia said. "I really can't wait until science class."

"Me neither," Hugo agreed. "Everybody is going to love Lady Melody."

Amber and James heard their younger sister's conversation with Hugo—they didn't know why he and Sofia thought everybody would like Lady Melody.

Later that day, it was almost time for science class, and Sofia and Hugo were getting impatient, waiting for class to start.

"Good morning, boys and girls," Fauna said. "Earlier in the week, we told you Lady Melody was going to be our guest speaker today."

Lady Melody entered the classroom and said, "Hello there, Lady Melody at your service. I suppose you were all expecting me to be a witch?"

All the students (except Sofia and Hugo) smiled sheepishly.

"It's okay," said Lady Melody. "Anyhoo, I myself am a student like you. For two years, I've been studying to become a nurse, and being here is part of the process. I hear you have a science project due next week, so I'm going to be talking to you about the body. But first, there's a friend I would like you to meet."

When Fauna wasn't looking, Lady Melody brought the skeleton model to where she was standing. Fauna turned around—and when she saw the model, she shrieked, "Oh, my Lord! What is that?"

The princes and princesses started laughing about the way Fauna had reacted.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Miss Fauna," Lady Melody chuckled—and snorted—as she blushed

 Sofia and Hugo started giggling at Lady Melody's silly laugh.

"Well, kids, this is my friend, Mr. Bonehead," Lady Melody said. "He's not real—he's just a model. He likes to tell jokes."

Lady Melody manipulated the model and asked, "Why didn't the skeleton dance at the Halloween party?"

The room was quiet for a second.

"I don't know, Mr. Bonehead," Lady Melody said. "Why didn't the skeleton dance at the Halloween party?" Then she manipulated the model and answered, "He had no body to dance with!"

Lady Melody heard giggling all over the classroom.

"Ready for another joke? When do you hear me laughing?" Lady Melody asked, manipulating the model. "You can hear me laughing when something tickles my funny bone!"

Pretty soon, everybody started laughing.

Lady Melody started laughing too, and she let out a loud snort. All the kids were laughing at her silly laugh.

For the weekend, Sofia and Hugo helped each other with their projects.

"Are you little ones going to be helping each other with your science projects?" Axel asked.

"Yeah, I really need help with mine because I can't demonstrate with just one arm," Hugo said.

"And Hugo's injury proves to us how dangerous it is to litter," Sofia pointed out.

"It sure does," Axel agreed.
