Ethan's POV
Why did Emma walk away? I thought to myself, but my thoughts were interrupted by Anna speaking again.
"So, what's your name?" she asked.
"I'm Ethan," I said.
"Nice to meet you, Ethan," she answered.
I smiled politely, and she spoke again.
"Which school are you guys coming from?" she asked.
"Oakland High School," James answered.
"That's strange," Anna said. "The Busshead Crew in our class attended Oakland High School too... They were expelled."
"Yes," Stone answered.
"Wait, you guys are in the almighty crew?" she asked, eyes wide.
"Yes," I answered simply.
"Wow, too bad you're in the same class as your enemies," she said.
Emma's POV
I finished my drawing and picked up my sketchpad, ready to show Ethan and the others, when I noticed the alpha boys in our class walking over to them. I stopped.
It seemed like they were arguing.Everyone started moving closer, making it hard for me to see, so I climbed onto the desktop for a better view.
Austin, the leader of the Busshead Crew, was in Ethan's face — and without warning, Ethan connected his fist to Austin's jaw.
Suddenly, the bell rang. It was the end of first period and time for lunch.
Everyone started to exit the room.
When Austin was leaving, he turned and said, "Watch out, punk," then spat on the ground and stormed out of the classroom.I grabbed my book bag and sketchpad, went to my locker, put them away, and made my way to the cafeteria.
I got my lunch and sat at an empty table, pulling out a book to read while I ate.My alone time was interrupted by Ethan's sweet, masculine voice.
"Can we sit here?" he asked.
"Sure," I answered, and they sat down.
It was quiet for a while until I broke the silence.
"So... what happened earlier?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing," Ethan answered casually.
"I might look like a f**king idiot, but I'm not," I said sharply. "You just punched the hell out of the leader of one of the biggest and baddest gangs in our school — and it's nothing? Come on."
"Okay, okay," Ethan said, and they explained everything to me.
The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch.
We got up and made our way to our lockers. After fetching my book bag from my locker, I closed it — and standing behind it was Austin.
He leaned against the lockers, arms folded, a horrible smirk on his face."What do you want, Austin?" I asked, annoyed.
"Nothing. Can't I talk to a gorgeous girl like you?" he said with that unscrupulous smirk.
I hissed my teeth and walked back to the classroom.
The rest of the day went on smoothly without any more arguments or fights.
There were about five minutes left of class when Mr. Morrison walked in."Make sure you're all ready and fresh for tomorrow," he said. "Classes officially begin then."
"Yes, Mr. Morrison," we all said in chorus.
Ring, ring, ring.
The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day."Wohoo!" I cheered softly.
I hurried to call my mom to pick me up and went to my locker to pack my books away.
"Hey, Emma. Want a ride?" Ethan asked.
"Thanks, but I already called my mom," I said.
"Cool," he replied, and we walked outside together.
I waited about five minutes until Mom pulled up.
I got in and buckled my seatbelt."Hey, Mom," I said.
"Hello, sweetheart. How was school today?" she asked.
"Great," I answered.
The ride home was quiet.
When we reached home, I went straight upstairs, dropped my book bag on the dresser, and jumped onto my bed.
Next thing I knew, I was fast asleep.
