Oposites Attract

Chapter 2: Understanding

   Lee and Gaara proceeded through the forest for about 4 hours untill they saw an opening. When they arrived it looked like all hell broke loose. Lee's pupil strunk showing  the white inside his eyes as he wacthed in horror. Even Gaara was a little shaken up by the scene. Villagers, chunin, and even genin bodies lay lifeless on the blood covered ground. Gaara's Anbu bodyguards were paralyzed at the sight but remained hidden.
       Gaara got into a squat position to touch the blood. His pale fingers rubing at it to test its stability and its texture. He let the now vivid red finger into his mouth. Gaara's tongue lingered at it untill he decided it was fresh. He took it out his mouth not a moment before he engraved the irony liquid into his taste buds with a moment of bliss. "Lee" he stated, No response. In curiosity he looked back and was befuddled by Lee.
       In Lee's arms lies a girl with twin golden braides with eyes resembling the moon. How such an odd pairing can actually macth together he will not understand. Her eyes faded away greatly because of deaths grasp on her soul. On her forehead was a leaf headband telling him she was a genin and probably someone Lee knew. By the look of sorrow in Lee's chocolate colored eyes his assumption was correct. There was no doubt about it Lee was going through great Adversity.
      Gaara, barely understanding what a hug dignifies did not know what to do in this situation. "It seems those ninja you took down earlier went on a killing spree, I can say these were the unlucky victims that were at the wrong place at the wrong time," the emotionless boy said with his usual stotic face. "Did you know her?" He asked addressing the matter. Gaara learned it is far worse to dismiss the problem then to acknowledge it.
       "Name, Tsuki Shain meaning Moon Light, a perfect name for her in my opinion" Lee chuckled. "She was one of Guy-sensei new students" He said with tears slipping his eyes. "She was the exact opposite of me, but the kind nature and determination were the same, she was a true genius having 2 kekkei genkai's pass down through both sides of her family" he stopped there. An old well known knot formed in his throat. "But i guess passion and hardwork cannot always guaranteed survival".
       His hands unwrapped the bandages once adorning them. Gaara noticed Lee's scared hand and almost was impressed.He gently stuck out his thump and index finger to close her eye lids. He slide down her headband to cover her forever closed eyes as a sign of respect. She died a ninja death so she should be treated like one. But she was so young. Lee gave her a kiss on her forehead.
       Lee picked up the small body with both arms. He swiftly did a backflip in air before landing a solid hard hit on the ground. The landscape quivered with Lee's rage and furry as a deep hole awakened beneath. Gaara almost stumbled at the power of the vibration. Not that Lee was using full strength it was just unexpected on Gaara's behalf. Lee jumped down with his inhuman speed into the hole and within milliseconds he came back with a smile. 'If he lost someone who was dear why is he smiling?' Gaara pondered in his head but dismissed it.
       Almost like reading Gaara's mind Lee answered the question. "I am smiling because one of her Kekkei Genkai was foreseeing death itself, she said when she dies it will be inescapable and i will be there, she told me exactly what to do" Lee stated wiping all his tears away. With another strong kick the ground closed itself like nothing happened. Lee walked up to the crack and wrote the symbols of her name in the dirt. "ムーンシャイン".  "Lets get going" Lee said. With a quick nod from Gaara they were gone in a flash.

Gaara's point of Veiw
        Both Lee and Gaara past the main Gate without problem. They immediately went straight to the Hokage tower to report what they encountered. On the way there Gaara spared occasional glances at Lee. 'Lee i may not know how you feel but i know you are not happy as you pretend to be right now' Gaara thought. He didn't understand why but he felt something at the pit of his stomach cringe at the sight of Lee crying. Like, something just saying to comfort him but he turned his back at this. He had bigger priorities than a unanswered feeling in his gut.
       While approaching the building Lee glanced back at him. This caused the young Kazekage to fluster for a quick second. Lee tilted his head to the side in confusion. The green beast opened his mouth to say something when they saw a loudmouth blond kissing a Uchiha. Lee's jaw could almost touch the floor. Gaara being Gaara did not even spare a glance as his focus was on a pink haired girl coming thier way. Naruto and Sasuke seperated momentarily to look at them. Once Lee grasped back on to reality he said "Hello Naruto-kun and Sasuke-kun dont let us disturb your little session we'll be on our way". With that Naruto gave a little wave while teleporting with Sasuke to god knows where.

No ones point of veiw:
       "Hey Lee-san" Sakura said stoping infront of Lee. "Hello Gaara-sama" She said with a little more excited. Gaara stayed quite without even acknowledging her. With a sigh she continued "I reliezed how mean i have been turning down you and I finally decided i want to go on a date with you" She said sweet and Caring to Lee. This caused Gaara's eyes to shoot open. Suddenly his body felt heavier and somthing tugged at his chest. This was not a good feeling but a drowning one. Lee smile brightly but that smile soon faltered. "I am greatful you finally accepted my feelings and even returned them but i am sorry i will have to turn you down"
         Lee rubbed the back of his neck. "As you can see you are no longer the apple of my eye someone else had taken that spot, i hope we can just maintain friends" Lee finished with one of his infamous grins with a thumbs up. Gaara looked at Sakura as her fist was trembling in midair. She was ready to strike Lee but Lee easily dodge the attack. Sakura blinked in surprise Lee never dodged her hits he always withstands them. "I am deeply sorry Sakura-chan but i cannot have you stall me much longer" Lee started out before dodging another one.
     " I am currently in no mood to take one of your blows and if you continue i will have to defend myself" Lee said warningly. Sakura only snorted to this unladylike. "Alright I challenge you Rock Lee to a sparing macth at sundown" With that she walked away. "Dam" Lee said out in the open through clenched teeth. Today was going to be a long day for both Lee and Gaara.

In The Hokage office:
"L-Lee?" Tsunade said rubing her eyes. "You actually got back the scroll ?!??" she asked still not believing it. The mission she sent Lee was an S-rank suicidal, to their calculations she thought this would be his last. Gaara's eyes turned into narrow slits in rage. "Hokage, it seems to me you sent out chunin to a suicidal mission instead of Jonin and may i ask the rank ?" he said in his monotone with a slight hint of sarcasm. The thought of what she did made him cringe and want to sand coffin her.
      Tsunade bowed her head more in shame then in embarrassment. She felt guilty from the real reason she sent Lee with his team. They were supposed to be decoys for the bingo book ninja. As they died they will allow her Anbu guards to deliver a stealthy legal anbush to finish them off. No wonder her anbu gaurds still haven't arrived yet, they were still waiting patiently. Tsunade eyed down Lee making the green beast tilt his head in confusion. It looked as if she was deciding something.
      But it was gone in a flash as she snapped her fingers. A wish of wind appeared and disappeared dropping Shizune off. "Yes, im already 2 steps ahead of you my Lady" Shizune said
obediently. "As from now on you, Rock Lee the Green Beast of Kohona is the rank 'Jonin'" She stated with a warm smile holding a scroll up to Lee's chest level. Gaara just stared holes into the scroll as Lee's face lit up with excitement. He eagerly took the scroll before thinking this new information through.
    His dark chocolate eyes widen even bigger than usual if possible. "May i ask why am i getting promoted Hokage-sama?" Lee said in a tone still not convinced. The hokage rubbed her temples knowing this thick headed ninja won't leave untill he gets what he wants. She sat up straight with a serious almost terrifying face while she explained the real reason to Lee. Lee had a welcoming radiant smile as he listened to the reason.
     Gaara could swear he saw a glisten of water threatening to leak out of the Tai-Jutsu master's eyes. The young Kazekage was paying special attention to Lee's every move. When Tsunade got to the part of him and his team being 'Decoys' his fist tightened. With enough strength to make several cracks in the scroll.
      At the end of Tsunade's explaining she said without sparing any remorse "Weather you forgive or accept my the decision I've made is precisely up to you as your emotions are irrelevant, as a ninja its your job to proceed responsive throughout anything i order you to do, Im sorry but this is the cold hard truth". Without even batting an eye Lee quickly stated "I fully understand the decision you've made and have nothing more to say".She raised her right hand and fanned at the two young men standing infront of her.
     "Kazekage-sama leave the scroll here while you spend at least 2 days here with your new body gaurd, Lee im sure Gaara will explain the details to you later about your new mission and as for now your both dismissed" The hokage stated dismissing them both.
Gaara let out a kind of agitated "hn" and swiftly turned to take his leave. Lee bowed respectfully to only follow the silent leader.
     Shizune let out a small giggle covering her mouth lightly with her hand. Tsunade looked at the giggling women as if mad. The happy woman lifted her hand from her lips revealing a devious smirk. "How about a little bet my lady" Shizune said to the clueless blonde infront of her. "What kind of bet ? im all ears," Tsunade said while smiling. The pig loving woman whispered her bold plan to the hokage. With every word she said Tsunade's smile got wider. While stroking her blonde long hair she said "Im in, 'project : Kazekage's leaf', is in session".
