Luckily I’d told Andy the address before I nodded off. I woke up to his hand on my arm.
“Louise…Louise…sleepy head….come on you’re home” he said as he gently shook my arm.
“Oh god, I’m so sorry. I bet you wish you’d never offered me a lift now.” I said whilst rubbing my eyes, taking in my surroundings of Andys car.
“Louise its fine no worries, you were shattered. Anyyywayyyy now you owe me one” he said with a chuckle.
I started to blush, “Oh do I now, we’ll see” I said and laughed.
“Yeah you do." He sais as if it was obvious with a smirk playing at his lips. “Now come on, you’re friend's stood and the window waiting for you” he laughed, and looked over his shoulder to Kathy stood obviously peeking in the landing window.
“Oh great” I sighes “well, thank you so much for the lift it was really good meeting you” I said honestly.
It had honestly been an amazing night, minus the knee situation, but it was worth it because it meant I’d met Andy. But was it the first time…
Andy got out of the car quickly as I reached for my door; I wondered what he was doing until he came round the car to help me get out. “Thank you” I blushed again. God he is good.
“It’s fine, stop saying thank you!” he insistes “Here’s your crutches” he said as he hands me them and he started to walk me to the door.
He turnes to face me with his hands in his jean pockets “Well then I guess this is goodbye…only for now hopefully…I mean only if you want it to be” he said with his head to the floor, obviously shy.
He is so sweet “Andy… are you asking me to see you again?” I said questioningly with a nervous laugh. Why would a gorgeous lad like him want to see me again!?
“Erm…yeah…yeah I am…But only if you want to” he smiled.
“I’d love to” I replied simply.
“Good… because remember you owe me one” he replied with the same cheeky smile.
“How could I forget” I laughed, my cheeks flared an even deeper shade of red, if that was even possible.
“Oh…Here…” He said as he fumbled in his pockets before handing me his I-phone, “Can I have your number? Then we can arrange to go for a coffee or something?” He smiled.
I typed my number in and save it as “Louise… A&E girl ;)” “Yeah that sounds amazing”
He laughd when he saw the screen “I don’t think I’ll be forgetting you”
“How could you” I laughed joking about. But it would have been very simple in fact for a drop dead gorgeous guy to forget a plain girl like me. “You want to come in for a coffee?” I asked going out on a limb.
“Erm…” I could see he was tempted “Nah but I will take you up on the offer of coffee, tomorrow too soon?” He smiled.
“Tomorrow sounds brilliant” I smiled back “You sure you’ll be okay driving home?”
“Yeah I’ll be fine, I’ll even text you when I get home” He laughed.
“You better do now or ill think you’ve crashed or something, then you won’t be able to go for coffee tomorrow” I said with a smile.
“I’ll be there, ill text you about times and stuff. Well I better be getting off. It was really nice meeting you tonight” He laughed but suddenly turned serious for the last part.
I smiled “Yeah okay. I’m really glad I met you too. We’ve got so much in common and we’re both clumsy” I laughed.
“Yeah we are” he laughed too.
He leanes forward and went to hug me but suddenly stopped. I frowned, what was wrong?
“Wait” he laughe as he took my crutches and rested them against the door behind me. He then wrapped his arms around me and squeezed me close. The motion sent me into a second wave of déjà vu, I’d felt this before. The way my head rested on his chest, the way his arms wrapped around my back and held me close. Damn even the way he smelt was familiar. But as much as I tried I couldn’t think where from.
Besides my brain going into overdrive it was possibly the best hug…ever. It was safe to stay to say the hug lasts longer than a hug should, and to be perfectly honest I didn't really want to let him go. He was so warm and the way he held me close made me feel perfectly safe.
He whisperd in my ear “Goodnight” before we moved apart reluctantly. His voice so close to me made me shiver and he laughes smiling, obviously he noticed.
“Night” I replied simply with a blush. He smiled again then turned and walked back down the driveway. He unlocked his car and turned and waved to me before getting back in his car and driving back down the road.
One thing I knew for sure as I stood watching Andy’s car drive back down the road is that I did know him. He was too familiar. I recognised that smile, those shoulders, just him. He was one of the nicest guys i'd ever met and i knew it was true just from the few hours we’d been sat together. He seemed to actually care about me and my life. Not just whether I was wearing a low cut top and short skirt; he actually wanted to get to know me.
The one thing I needed to see were his eyes. I prayed that maybe, just maybe, if I looked into his eyes it would all come flooding back – whatever ‘it’ was. Again, I felt the same sinking feeling in my stomach when I thought about my past.
But certain things that happened in my past were to stay in my past.
One night in particular.
And that’s where it would always stay; padlocked away in a small box in my mind forever.
Besides… Andy wasn’t a part of that night. He made me feel safe and wanted, like he cared…unlike the culprit from those two short years ago.
And right now that culprit I used to call my bestfriend was sat rotting in prison. Where he would stay for a long time to come…
