"The Things I Would Do"

"My hands long to feel the warmth of your palms,

oh, the things I would do to be in your arms.

I'd pick every rose 'til my fingers turn red -

if I can't be beside you, I'll send them instead.

I'd tame every dove for as long as it takes

to teach them to find you, tell you my heart aches.

I'd climb every staircase right to the top,

I'd reach you in Heaven if I had not to stop.

But roses will wilt, and doves will die too,

and staircases never quite make it to you,

so even though numbness has crept to my core,

I can't end my life just to see you once more."
