Chapter: 40
Madeline's POV:
We came back to the bureau, but I had to leave once again. Arno made me sit down first and bandage my arms quickly. There were little splatters of blood here and there on my the sleeves of my robe, but that was it. Arno decided to come along with me to meet my father, but he would be hiding while I did. I didn't trust my father and neither did Arno. It made me feel warm that he wants to be all protected over me. A smile wanted to spread across my lips, but I hold it back as best as I could. We managed to destroy the merchandise and hopefully, that will set the Templars back a little. We will just have to keep doing it until they are all destroyed.
My nerves were twisting themselves about meeting with my father as I didn't know why he wanted after all of these years. It made me angry that he wanted to talk to me after abandoning us. My mother raise me perfectly fine though and I didn't need my father around. I will show him just how much of a woman that I have grown up into. He won't stop me from what I'm trying to accomplish and I will have my revenge one way or another. It makes me more angry with him for showing up out of nowhere and demanding that he wanted to see. I should have known it was him in the first place. The sheer mention of him and he comes back.
A scowl was on my lips as I walk to where my mother's grave was and my hood was down. I hope my father would remember his own daughter that he had left behind. The sun was high in sky as I wanted to do this while it was still light out. The whole fiasco of blowing the merchandise in the warehouse took most of our early morning up. There was little time, but Arno managed to bandage my arms. It wasn't necessary, but he insisted. I didn't feel like arguing against him right at that particular moment, but it was tempting too. I probably would have if I didn't have to meet my father.
Arno was close by as he was watching from afar and it made me feel warm once more. He had warm my heart up completely and it felt nice to have him watch over me. My mother's grave was still there underneath the tree where she had been buried. I remember everything that had happened to her and what had to go through. The mystery of her murder still haunts me as I want revenge for whoever murder my mother. It still haunts me today that I don't know, but soon I shall find out who did murder her exactly. I will have my revenge one way or another.
"Marie..." A unfamiliar voice spoke behind me, but I do know that name. It says the same on my mother's tombstone. Marie S. Wellington.
I turn around slowly to face my father as I gave him a look of distrust. The hood of his was removed as he look a lot older than I had last remember. I was quite young back then and my father had aged. I didn't realize how old he was, but I still could see that he was in good shape. My father's expression was unreadable as he look at me. He came closer to me as I realize that he was tall than I was. He murmured "Ah...Madeline"
"I'm surprised you remember your own daughter" I glare at him.
"How could I ever forget about my own daughter?" He asked.
I scoffed as I shook my head "Why now? What do you want?"
He let out a sigh as he turn his head though my mother's grave and I caught a glimpse of pain there. I thought I saw guilt there too, but I could have imagine that part. He answered "There is a war coming or so I heard"
"You heard correctly" I answered looking at my mother's grave.
"I see you have made your choice in where you belong" He murmured noticing my assassin's robes.
"Were you worrying about having to killed your own daughter if she was still a Templar?" I raise an eyebrow up at him.
"Now, that I think about it that way. Then yes" He answered giving me a look that was telling me that I know damn well that Assassins and Templars don't do this meetings. It doesn't matter if they are family or not. It's war between the two organizations.
