Rose's P.O.V.

I ran, Pearl barely breathing in my arms. My heart was heavy, as I panted. Trying and almost willing myself to keep going. I could barely breathe, I had lost a lot of blood. But I needed to keep pushing myself. For her. For them. My friends, my only family. That's when the house shook. Nothing more but small quakes. Suddenly the house shook even more, tossing me to the ground, Pearl blacked out as I held her in my arms.

The shakes didn't stop, they kept growing. Tossing me into the closest wall. That's when I blacked out. When I awoke, Pearl was gone. In her place was a gem. A pearl. No...

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that this would happen. One more small tremor shook violently through the house, and I grabbed onto a window sill. Once it stopped I gazed out into the world. There, the sky lay black, no stars, no dawn, no day. Just twilight. Thousands of others with gems just like the others were staring at the house. "Pink Diamond!" I heard one of them say, spotting me. I jerked back and grabbed the gem, running straight into Maxwell.

"Looks like we've got a crowd. Let's give 'em a good show, Rosie."

(Time Skip)

"That's how we got together." Garnet spoke, smiling at the boy. Steven had grown up; he was 19 now and they had all decided it was time for the truth.

"Shit, G." He said, looking at Garnet. She glared playfully. "Watch your mouth. I'm still older than you by a couple thousand years."

Steven giggled, despite hearing the graphic story. "I'm gonna hit the hay." Steven stated, climbing back up to his bed. Garnet smiled and walked back to the temple. She had trouble opening the temple door, and with a sigh, she tried to relax. This happened every once in a while. When she thought of Maxwell... Oh, those eyes. When Sapphire had to comfort Ruby about the horrors. She would defuse inside so the two could cuddle and make each other feel safe, but she still felt those eyes, hunting her, mocking.

She tried to shake it off again, the temple door finally opening. As it did, she stopped, listening to Steven snoring softly. She chuckled, taking a step inside. Before the door closed she could've sworn she'd heard the normal creak of the front door to the beach house. She could've sworn she saw those blue eyes that gripped Ruby and Saph's dreams every night.

But, it was okay. Every gem had those days. Everyone saw Maxwell at least once. Now just might be Steven's time.
And with that, the door shut, Garnet blocked out the yell that shook the house, she knew those eyes were close. But they weren't for her, oh no, they were for someone else this time..
She could practically see Maxwell hum with his evil, metallic grin and signature laugh.

"Found you, Rosie. Sing me another song, would you?"

I was looking for a breath of life...
