"A double-date!" exclaimed Chiyoko, jumping up and down giddy with excitement. The smile on her face seemed to grow wider with every passing moment, I wondered how it could stretch to such lengths.
I raised my eyebrows.
Chiyoko. On a date.
Chiyoko. On a date.
Those words didn't really seem to go well together.
Chiyoko has been my closest - albeit not best - friend since we were kids. I would call her my best friend but I've never really believed in 'best' friends. There were only close friends and friends, nothing more.
"Chiyoko, you know I don't like that stuff," I said, folding my arms. "Besides, who's the guy anyway?"
"Yamaguchi!" she squealed, her face turning pink.
Ah, Yamaguchi. He wasn't that bad, in fact, he was pretty nice to me.
"To where?" I asked, leaning against my locker.
"The amusement park!" she squeaked and hugged her fists to her chest.
I smiled at her and patted her head. "That's great, Chiyoko. Hope you have a great time."
She pouted. "But it's a double-date."
"But I don't like dates," I said matter-of-factly and began walking away.
"[Y/N]..." she whined and sulked, walking beside me and pulling my arms.
I sighed and turned to face her. "No, besides, who'll go with me?"
She cocked her head to the side and frowned. "But aren't you going out with Tsukishima?"
My eyes widened slightly and my lips parted and closed. I'd completely forgotten about us. I exhaled and inhaled then plastered a smile onto my face. "That's right," I said brightly. "But, he isn't the dating type of person either so..." I trailed off and attempted to walk away but was stopped when I bumped into someone.
I hastily turned around and bowed. "I'm sorry," I said then looked up. Staring down at me was none other than Tsukishima Kei. He would have shown a reaction to me if it weren't for Chiyoko butting in. "Tsukishima, you'll go on a double-date with [Y/N] right?" she asked and looked up to him hopefully.
He seemed taken aback and raised his eyebrows. "What?"
I looked away and started walking away to avoid anymore unwanted happenings. "[Y/N]," called Tsukishima a few steps behind me. I paused and slowly turned my head around. I sighed. "Listen, she wants us, 'us' as in me, you, her and Yamaguchi to go on a double-date but I don't want to alright?" I said in exasperation.
"[Y/N]?" I heard my name being called out again but this time, when I turned to the owner of the voice, it was Yamaguchi. I closed my eyes and breathed in.
It's fine. I'm chill, I'm chill.
I opened my eyes and smiled. "Yamaguchi!" I feigned enthusiasm. "What a great time."
"Yeah," he smiled and scratched his neck. "I just wanted to ask you if-"
"Yes, yes. Okay! I'll go on this double-date. Please just...please just," I cut him short then stopped and rubbed my temples then sighed. "Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to...I-I'll go on this date. I'll go."
