Severus stationed his hand on the small of my back as we walked down the changing stair cases. Then we walked over to these huge doors.
“This is the great hall,” said Dumbledore as he opened the doors to show a very large room filled with kids wearing black robes and ties with all different colors and sitting at 4 different tables.
“Wow!” I said looking around in awe.
“There are 4 houses Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin,” he said walking to the front of the room.
“Ok.”
“Gryffindor’s values are courage, bravery, loyalty, nerve, and chivalry and the head is Professor McGonagall. Hufflepuff’s values are hard work, tolerance, loyalty, and fair play and head is Professor Sprout. Ravenclaw’s values are intelligence, creativity, learning, and witand head is Professor Flitwick. Last but not least is Slytherin their values are ambition, cunning, leadership, resourcefulness, and most of all, pure wizard blood their head is no other then Professor Snape,” said Dumbledore.
“Thats really cool, so how do I get into one of these houses?” I asked confused.
“There is something called the sorting hat,” said Severus still with his hand on my back. “Now sit and wait,” he pushed me into a chair in the front of the room.
“Quiet everyone!” yelled Dumbledore over the humming of the voices in the room. “Thank you, now I would like to introduce our new student Lora Lamprey as you can tell she is older then the rest of you but she will be staying at Hogwarts and she will be eating all meals with whatever her house is but she will be taught in the evening by Professor Snape.” he smiled at me.
When Severus was mentioned there was a lot of buzz then some tall boy with bright red hair stood up and screamed. “You can’t put her with that greasy old git!”
My head shot right to Severus who’s face started turning red.
“Why is that Mr.Weasley?” said Dumbledore annoyed.
“Well I mean look at her and then at Snape then at her then at Snape and back at her,” he pointed to them.
“Mr.Weasley this is irrelevant, Miss Lamprey happens to like me,” Snape said annoyed.
The whole room laughed so hard they looked as if they were going to fall off their benches including the boy who started this all twin.
“Alright!” screamed Dumbledore. “Now the sorting hat is going to sort her into her house,” he smiled taking a hat over to me and placing it on my head.
“Ahhh, Lora Lampfrey, I thought I would never see you,” sighed the hat.
“What the hell!” I screamed.
Everyone burst into laughter.
“Hats aren’t supposed to talk!” I yelled sending it askew.
Dumbledore fixed it and whispered in my ear that it’s supposed to.
“Ah,” I said embarrassed.
“Now where was I?” I asked the hat. “Ah, you’re smart but yet loyal and very cunning all at once,” said the hat. “This is a very confusing decision, hmmm maybe Gryffindor but maybe Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw and Slytherin.” said the hat confused. “Albus, I don’t think she has a specific house.”
“So, now what?” asked Severus who was at my side.
“Well I don’t know do I have to figure out everything?” asked the hat.
“Oh shut up!” Severus hit the hat off my head.
“Come with me,” Severus said yanking my hand.
“Ok,” I said overwhelmed.
He sat me down at the Slytherin table. “Severus, I don’t want to be in Slytherin,” I said annoyed.
“Well you have no choice,” he snapped.
My mouth hung open.
“Slytherin is just as cool as them Gryffindor's, sweet cheeks,” said a platinum blonde haired boy.
“Shut up!” I snapped.
Severus looked proud and jealous and annoyed all at once. “You stay,” said Severus beinging to walk away.
“Oh, come on you old git she want’s to be in Gryffindor,” yelled one of the twins.
“I do Severus,” I said lightly.
“Anything but,” he said annoyed.
“Sorry Severus, but I’m not here to make you happy,” I said walking over to sit at Gryffindor table next to the Weasley brothers.
Severus’s face looked as if fire was going to come spitting out of his ears.
“He hates me right now,” I said sitting next to who turned out to be George.
“Well of course you didn’t want to be in Slytherin and thats his house and he hates Gryffindor also,” said a girl.
“Oh I didn’t know he hated Gryffindor,” I said surprised.
“Well he does, Hermione Granger nice to meet you,” she smiled sweetly.
“I’m Harry Potter,” said the boy next to Hermione.
I nodded.
“Hey, I’m Ron Weasley,” said the boy who looked related to Fred and George.
“Oh no there’s another Weasley,” I laughed.
“Yeah, I’m not as bad as they are though,” laughed Ron.
“He’s definitely not as bad as us!” said George and Fred.
“He’s bad enough,” said Hermione.
“Hermione!” snapped Ron.
They began to quarrel with each other. Harry looked at me embarrassed by his friend’s fighting. I smiled carefully showing him it was fine. I looked away from Harry and up at Snape who has been staring holes though me for the past twenty minutes. He sneered at me. I mouthed the word ‘Bastard.’ He looked as if he was going to strangle me. Then I mouthed ‘You know I love you’ and I must’ve used the wrong wording because he looked very confused he almost blushed. I laughed.
“What are ya laughin’ at?” asked Fred.
“Nothing, nothing at all.”
----
I gave Lora a strict stare and hoped she would look up at me which took a few minutes. I just sneered at her annoyed. ‘Bastard,’ she mouthed at me. I found it very offending and rude so I gave her a death stare. She smiled carefully then mouthed something with love in it. Does she love me?
