The Sandbox Locket part 1:
(Liam's POV)
I pull up to my childhood house shortly after my breakup with longtime girlfriend Danielle. My mom doesn't know I'm coming, but hopefully it will be a nice surprise.
"Hi Mom!" I carefully open the door and step inside.
"Liam? Is that you?" I hear distantly. "Come out back!!!"
I walk outside into my mother's welcoming, and slightly sandy, arms, and realize that she is doing her spring cleaning. Well, more like summer cleaning at this point, but better late than never.
"Sweetie, I figured that you weren't interested in your sandbox anymore, so I decided to empty all the sand out! And guess what I foundddd!?!?" she trills in excitement.
I know a second before she says it. "My safe box?"
"Yes dear! I remember how paranoid you were that we put it in just right.. But I haven't looked inside yet! Why don't you take it up to your room and take a look?"
I gingerly hoist the box up to my old room and set it on the floor. Then, I open the top. I gasp with delight. All of my old comic books, which helped me through my childhood, and my favorite action figures are in there. "I thought I'd never see you again buddy!" I murmur to my old teddy bear, for which I was bullied mercilessly in elementary school. His button eyes seem to glimmer in response.
As I'm lifting out all of my old belongings, my knuckle hits something hard and oddly shaped. As I take a closer look, I see that it is a wooden heart-shaped box. I tremble as I open it, knowing already what is inside.
A rush of memories hit me all at once, and I gasp as I remember her swinging next to me, and then leaving one day with a look of disgust. My first friend. My first love. My first broken heart. We shared everything together, and we made each other lockets as a symbol of eternal friendship.
Sure enough, there sits my locket.
