The Sandbox Locket part 7:

(Liam's POV)

As I watch Luna being taken away in the cop car, I rush to get a ride to my car and then drive to the courthouse.

I find Luna with her lawyer in one of the holding cells. She is sobbing her heart out.

I decide to leave her alone. She doesn't need anymore stress right now.

(In court an hour later)

(Luna's POV)

The judge bangs the gavel. "Court in session for the trial of the murder of Noah Darren."

I listen in silence. First, the opposing lawyer asks Liam to testify for me being with him the whole time.

"After I saw her with Mr. Darren, I drove off. She came after me and arrived to the pond about 10 minutes after I did."

"Do you have proof? The murder was committed at approximately 11:50 am."

"Well, the picture taken of us making out on the bench was taken at 12:00." Liam winks at me, and I blush.

Then a private investigator on my side informs the jury that my car cannot go fast enough to have fled the crime scene and gotten to the pond, 20 kilometers away. In addition, there were no skid marks near my house.

But then my heart sinks as the opposing lawyer points out that my lipstick was found on Noah.

The private investigator leaps to his feet. "Although the lipstick matches a lipstick found in one of Miss Quimby's cabinets, there appear to be traces of another female's fingerprints on the lipstick tube."

My lawyer asks me, "Did you see a woman at your house with Mr. Darren?"

"Yes," I blurt. "A woman came in and went to the bathroom. Noah said that he had found another woman in France on his vacation. She came out of the bathroom and started kissing Noah, and then she said that she had to go to the kitchen. Right after that, Liam arrived, left, and I followed him. I have no idea what happened after that."

"The stab wounds on Mr. Darren's body match the serrations on a knife from the Quimby's kitchen," the P.I. informs the judge.

"Then it is quite possible that the woman was able to find a knife from the kitchen and stab Mr. Darren with it later," my lawyer concludes triumphantly.

The judge smiles at me. "Ok, very well, it appears that Miss Quimby is innocent. But we need to find the murderer. Miss Quimby, have you ever seen the woman before?"

"No, your honor."

"Alright, court dismissed!"

I run out of the booth and into Liam's arms. Staring into his eyes, I tell him that I love him. He says, "I love you too Lu! Now let's go to Ireland!"
