Chapter 1: Chocolate Chip Crème Milkshake
Author's Note: Hi everyone! This idea just popped into my head one day and I figured, why not try writing it out? There's still no point-by-point plan for this story yet (I don't think there ever will be one), so we'll see where it leads us.
I've written fanfiction before but on a different platform and never for this particular series. I'm more accustomed to writing one-shots (mostly angst, yikes! I'll try not to for this one) but I'm going to give a multi-chapter story a go for this one.
And I can't promise regular updates since a lot is going on right now with me, but I will do my best. They all probably won't be this long either.
Hope you all enjoy and wherever you are in the world, Happy New Year!
Sang's POV
Stepping through the double doors of Bob's diner, I paused to admire the mural that spanned the walls of the waiting area. The mural, which depicted a collection of diners over the years, never failed to amaze me. The colors were bright and inviting, and I had feeling that the artist behind this masterpiece was equally vivid.
I pulled open the next set of double doors and bypassing the hostess' station, I took a seat at one of the stools at the counter. The diner was fairly empty and I was glad that I had missed the lunch crowd. There was an old man with a cup of coffee and a newspaper at the other end of the counter while a family of four sat at a corner booth. A guy with headphones occupied one of the smaller booths and he was typing furiously on his laptop.
A couple of seats away, two guys were chatting with each another. One of them had light brown hair and wore a pair of black-rimmed glasses. He had looked up when I entered but dropped his attention back to his companion not too soon after. The other guy was facing away from me, but his hair was a softer shade of brown and was slightly wavy compared to his friend. And unlike the guy with the glasses who was wearing jeans and a green polo, the second guy sported slacks and a white long-sleeved shirt.
I could hear them talking and there was something familiar about the baritone voice of the one in slacks.
"Can I get you a drink to get started?" A menu was slipped in front of me and I looked up to see a guy with reddish-brown hair and blue eyes. He grabbed a pen and a notepad from his back pocket while offering me a smile. The nametag on his shirt revealed that his name was Nathan.
I pushed the menu back at him and gave him a smile of my own. "Just a chocolate chip crème milkshake, please."
"Sorry, miss, but that's not on the menu. We got a chocolate milkshake and a cookies n' crème milkshake though."
I scrunched my nose at him. "Really?" I asked unsurely. "I've ordered that plenty of times before."
He smirked at me and amusement was evident on his blue eyes. "We could check the menu if you'd like." He flipped open the menu and leaned forward to scan the items with me. The muscles on his arms flexed with the movement and I made sure keep my attention focused on the menu.
Lo' and behold, there was no chocolate chip crème milkshake on the menu. I've ordered that milkshake several times because, well, it was divine. Then again, I never did look at menu whenever I ordered it. Come to think of it, I never ordered for myself whenever I ate at Bob's Diner. My order was always decided for me by the time I sat down. With the exception of the chocolate chip crème milkshake and a handful of desserts, I never repeated a meal.
Biting my lip, I said, "Maybe it's a secret menu item?"
I glanced up when Nathan didn't reply and I almost ducked my head back down. He was staring at me and his blue eyes were intense.
