"So how the hell do I do this!?" I ask.

"You be you. You're special. You have the power to save us and make everything right again." Jason explains.

"I don't know. What if it was Ellie? She's gone. I can't do this Jason, I just can't." I cry.

It's night now, and me and Jason decided to take the floor. Audrey's on the couch. I haven't been talking with her lately. I'll make sure to fix that, well, once all this nonsense is over. She's been nothing but awesome knowing how hard this has been on me.

"Evelyn, you were meant for this. You have so much of you father in you," he says, stroking my shoulder,"I should know; my parents were good friends with him."

"But I'm just a normal girl. I can't do anything to help anyone. I couldn't help Dante, and soon Ms. Moreau is going to die." I'm sobbing now, with salty tears streaming down my face. I can't help it. I couldn't help someone live if I tried.

"You can think like that. You have to stay positive." Our foreheads are pressed together. He kisses me softly. "We have to stay positive."

A Few Weeks Later

"Okay. Well, I got your tests back. And I've got great news!" Ms. Moreau announces.

It had been a few weeks and we were still staying is Ms. Moreau's basement. Audrey and I had become close again, and Jason and I, well, were in deep love. I had been feeling very sick lately and went to ask Ms. Moreau if she knew any doctors in the area, that, well, wouldn't kill me. She suggested herself and said she was actually a doctor; as she had went to school to become one. And, well, she tested me and this is what came back.

"You're pregnant!" She says, excitedly.

Jason was there of course, holding my hand the whole time. When we heard the news, we both smiled and squeezed each other's hand. We had each hoped for this. We knew the other person wanted to get married, but, with our situation, it was kind of hard.

"I'd like to give you the proper proposal," he had said,"You deserve it."

"I'll be waiting." I'd replied.

We each walked down to the basement happy, but it was too soon to be happy.

"I think we need to leave." Jason tells me.

"Why? We're happy here, right?" I reply.

"There going to catch us, Ev. It's not safe here. And I have a plan. We can cross The Fence." He explains. "We'll be able to get there before the baby is born."

"How will we get there? Much less across the wall..." I ask, confused.

"I've done it before, Ev. We'll walk to The Fence using one of Ms. Moreau's maps." He says. "We have to get out of here, Ev. It's not safe on The West Side."

"I understand that. Will Audrey come?" I ask.

"If she wants to. She's not the one wanted."

"But your not the wanted one either." I point out.

"I'm not letting you go alone." He says.

"I'll ask her tonight."

***

"Audrey?"

"Ya?"

"Um...well Jason and I are going to try to cross. Try to cross the fence." I say,"We want to know if you want to cross with us or if you want to stay here, you know, because I'm the fugitive here."

"Ummm...I'm not sure. Can I sleep on it?" She replies.

"Ya, just so you know, we're leaving in the morning." I say.

We both head to our 'beds'. I fall fast asleep.

***

"Ev, Ev, wake up. We have to get going. I got our bags packed. We're all set." Jason says.

"Okay. Has Audrey decided to come?" I say, groggily.

"Ya. She's coming. She said she would never not come in a million years. Another best friend rule, I guess."

That sends me into a fit of giggles.

"Well then, let's get going then." I say, enthusiastically.

I get ready, brush my teeth and hair, and then wait outside. Jason comes up, soon followed by Audrey. And together we walk into the rising sun.
