CHAPTER 5
My peer and I stared at the two boys in astonishment. These strangers knew about our powers? How? Who were these guys? Could Timmy have hired them? A million questions ran through my mind about this discovery.
"Yeah, well, they started asking us questions about our powers and our names and where the rest of us were. We wouldn't answer them and the bigger one got angry. He grabbed Spaz and was about to hit him, so I kind of... caught him on fire to distract them," Cyber said, pulling a singed lighter out of his pocket. I sighed. They were just trying to defend themselves.
"Can you describe what they looked like?" I suddenly asked, thinking that maybe they were some of Timmy's goons. "Yeah, the one asking the questions was shorter than the one who grabbed me. He had dark brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing a suit." Spaz said. Wait, wearing a suit? Not a goon, then. "The violent one was tall and bulky with shaggy, dirty-blond hair. Oh and he had a scar on the left side of his face. He was wearing a sort of biker-looking outfit." Cyber finished. A biker and a business man. What a weird combination.
"What about the other two? You said there were four," Shriek finally tuned in. I realized she was right, they had said there were four men, and had only described two. I looked back over at them, but was discouraged by the blank looks on their faces. They didn't remember what the other men looked like. I sighed again. I really need to work on that, I sigh too much.
"Well, there is someone we could ask that might know about this gang, but we'll have to travel for a while." I said, a thought coming to me. I heard a groan from Shriek. She knew who I was thinking of. I laughed to myself, remembering the last time Shriek and I had visited her.
"Boys, we're going to the Big Apple." I chuckled to myself at their excited faces. This trip probably wouldn't be as fun as they thought.
(Cally's POV)
I ran through the dark alley, casting glances behind me. Good I had lost them. As I reached the end of the alley i hung a left and shoved my way through the crowd of New Yorkers, heading against the flow. A large red brick building appeared within my line of sight, and I started to move faster, shoving people out of my way and getting angry responses. Soon I was at the front of the building, however I did not enter there. Instead I ran on the left side of it and pick up the lid of an old, seemingly empty, trashcan. Inside the trashcan was a large box with a keypad, secretly wired to the building and expertly disguised. I tapped in the password and the bricks on the wall in front of me started to move apart, revealing a narrow passageway. As I stepped inside, I heard the familiar sound of the hidden door closing behind me, and let out a small sigh or relief. That had been close.
I reached over to my left in the dark and found the button on the wall. I pressed it and the light turned on after scanning my fingerprint. I continued walking down the hall and stopped at a red door. I knocked on it three times and the door opened, revealing all my secrets. Well, maybe not all of them. I stepped inside and the door closed. Kicking off my shoes, I walked over to the jumble of monitors on one wall, hooked up to a massive computer. I scanned the screens for my foes, and was finally able to relax when I saw no signs of them. I headed over to the couch and sat down, propping my feet up on the coffee table and grabbing a TV remote. When I switched on the flat screen huge black words flashed in my face. They said: "YOUNG GIRL SEEN BREAKING INTO TOP SECURITY FACILITY". I sighed. They just had to report it.
I pulled a small blue paper out of my pocket and unfolded it. Reading the information, I smiled and grabbed another remote off the table. I pressed the green button on it and a safe about a foot and a half long in the shape of a cube rose out of the floor under the table. After entering the carefully selected pass-code and again having my fingerprint scanned, I placed the paper in the safe that also contained various other important items.
As the safe lowered back into the ground, my pocket vibrated. I pulled my cell phone out and found a text waiting for me. I opened it and was surprised at what it said: "Hey sis, coming 2 c u. Have 3 ppl with. Be ready ;)" Oh great, just greeeat.... Kammy was coming.
