Okay, I noticed I spelled Cally two diff ways.. So it's Cally now not Callie ;)
CHAPTER 9
(Cally's POV)
I sat up straight in the desk chair, leaning forward slightly as I swiftly typed various access codes and verification codes. My fingers wized across the keyboard as I did math in my head to break into areas of the FBI's system that was unauthorized. I chuckled as I broke past their final defense encryption. Too easy.
I looked at the clock. I had about five minutes to download as much as I could before the FBI traced me. I set to work. i opened the CLASSIFIED file and pulled it down to my desktop. It started to download at snail-speed. To hurry it along, I used a few codes I had discovered. Satisfied with that, I moved to the next file. There were about ten more. I clicked and dragged around the files and dragged them together to the desktop. They began to download just as the first file finished. With the codes still active, they worked quicker than expected.
I whistled to myself and leaned back in my chair. The FBI is so stupid! If I, a now 16-year-old girl (my birthday is today), can break into their system, what's stopping others from doing so?
Just then a loud crash came from outside. Someone was at the entrance to my lair. Cautiously, I pulled up the internet to Google so my computer would look normal. I walked out of the room and into the dark hallway, towards the entrance. I tapped on a small screen and a view of the people outside showed up. I could see the light from the camera on the tops of their heads. Unfortunately so could they. The tallest one looked directly up at the camera.
"Hey, sis! Open up, or I'll hack your pass code!" she said. I groaned. How did they get here so early?
My fingers typed the access code to the door, unlocking it. I heard the low moan of the bricks moving aside and the the sliding of the steel door on the inside. In front of me stood two familiar faces, and two total strangers. I glanced suspiciously at them, then turned to my sister.
"You're early," I said simply, then moved aside and ushered them in before someone noticed. I walked in front and stopped at a green door. Opening it, I pointed to the two children and motioned for them to go in. As they entered, their mouths dropped open. I laughed. Boys and their video games.
I closed the door, then continued walking to an off-white door, where I stepped inside. My sister and her friend, Shriek, followed. Kammy sat on the couch with Shriek standing hesitantly by the door. Kammy smiled at her, then waved her over. Accepting the invitation, she closed the door and sat on the arm of the couch. I smirked. Shriek had never grown to trust me.
I walked over to the small kitchen area in my lounge and opened the fully stocked refrigerator. I pulled out a Mountain Dew and plopped into a bean bag chair, opening the can. "So, why exactly are you here?" I asked after taking a few sips. Kammy looked at me, amused. She thought I was over-obsessive towards Mountain Dew. Psh.
"We need some information. It appears we've been discovered and have our own personal stalker-posse." I choked on my drink as she said that. Discovered? How?!
A sudden honk outside from behind us startled me. I turned, expecting to see someone peering out the medium sized window towards the ceiling. This half of the building was partially underground. I sighed with relief as I realized it was just a passing car with an impatient driver. I hate it when that happens. I turned back around to see Kammy and Shriek laughing at me. I sent them each a furious look. "Discovered, eh? So you're still as reckle-" I began, then stopped abruptly when I heard the shattering of glass and felt something pierce my shoulder. My gaze started to blur and I slowly felt myself becoming unconscious. The last thing I heard was my sister's scream before the world went black and I passed out.
(Kate's POV)
I loaded one of the darts into my weapon and turned to face the window at the bottom of the building. I focused on the girl's body and slowly pulled the trigger, sure of my aim. There was no way I would miss. Seconds later the glass shattered and the small dart reached its destination. I nodded with satisfaction when her body slumped into unconsciousness. That was the easy part, now I had to figure out how to get her out of there. Hmm... This was going to be interesting.
