Dani's POV

-Tomorrow is Thanksgiving-

The atmosphere is. . .very hot. Bright red and orange lights covered the area below me. I was peaking out over a ledge, and it seemed like a 2,000 feet drop into. . .into lava? Don't tell me that this is a dream again? No, no, no, I need to wake up. I can't take this!

Laughter rose up behind me like a tidal wave, and I immediately turned around to see Brayden, Lora, and Parker. They slowly kept inching forward in an attempt to make me walk backwards to my death. Not today, though. Not today.

Lora had a devilish grin across her face, and her eyes were tinted orange. She took bigger steps toward me than Brayden and Parker. My eyes glanced at their hands. . .they were interlocked with one another. That really pissed me off.

Brayden looked like he had been hit by a truck. The whites of his eyes were a dark pink and strands of tears steadily kept running down his cheeks. He seemed like he was out for revenge, but why? Did Lora get to him?

Last, but not least, is Parker. His hand hung loosely in Lora's, but she was standing really close to him. He stood further back than the others while pain shown through his eyes. Was he hurt? Why? I never want to hurt Parker. I would never-

The soft ground underneath my foot fell weightlessly into the boiling fire. My balance was thrown off, and I started falling backwards. This is it. I might as well accept my fate. I'm going to die.

I closed my eyes and let gravity do its work. The worst part of this is. . .I'm not afraid like I should be. Is it because this is all in my head? Why can't I control my dreams anymore?

A hand slid into mine and jerked me upward. My eyes opened to see Parker struggling to keep me from falling. Yes, I'm still hanging over the edge, but he saved me. I thought he would just watch me die, b-but this is amazing.

Lora walked over to Parker and bent down beside his ear. Her hand covered her mouth as she gave me the most devious stare. Seconds later, Parker took one long look at me and then. . .his grip loosened.

I felt so much pain in my chest as Parker got smaller and smaller. He turned his face away from mine, and walked away. How could he do that? I thought he loved me. This can't happen. No!

I turned my face toward the huge lava pool in acceptance. The bright red, yellow, and orange colors got brighter and bigger. The last thing that crossed my mind before my inevitable doom was Lora.

***

My body jolted awake due to the sun rays peeking through the window. The bed was damp from stress sweat and cold. A ball of my duvet was wadded up in my left hand.

I sat up in bed, wiping the sweat from my face, and trying to forget everything that happened. I wish that I could control what I dream when ever I take my anxiety medication. For once, I'd like to have a decent dream.

I reached under my pillow and grabbed my phone. I had two new messages.

"Hey, darling. I just landed and I figured you'd be asleep so I didn't call...um..I miss you and I promise I'm not going to stay here long. Oh!! You'll never believe who was on the same plane as me....it was your old friend Lora. Turns out that her grandparents live near my parents house. Weird right??? I thought so too but she apologized to me. I don't know why either...she seemed really nice. Anyway, I hope you're sleeping well!! Text me when you wake up, sleeping beauty
-Parker"
