For Skylar! Sorry for the wait, darling! Been VERY busy lately. Hope you enjoy!

“Skylar!” Luke whines. “I wanna see the penguins!”

You pout at your boyfriend of one month today. “But I like the giraffes.”

Luke sighs dramatically and puts his arm around your shoulder. “Fine. But only because you’re cute.”

You giggle and blush, the way you always do when Luke compliments you.

He laughs at your shyness and leads you in the direction of the giraffes.

What starts at giraffes soon turns to looking at the zebras and monkeys and hippos and elephants and tigers and lions.

And then it comes to lunchtime and you’re starving.

“That’s ok, hon, we can see the penguins after lunch.” You assure Luke.

You buy some hot chips at the concession stand and wander along to the benches.

“Playground!” Luke exclaims and you laugh at his childishness.

“Wait until the little kids leave so you don’t scare them, Lukey.” You tease.

He pouts at you but gives in, sitting close to you so your knees bump together and steals your chips.

“Stop it!” You slap his hand away and he gives you a scary face (which is more adorable than scary).

The second you finish your chips; Luke has thrown the carton in the bin and pulls you to the almost abandoned playground.

You spend the next ten minutes being chased by your super tall boyfriend through this colourful plastic playground made for children under the age of seven.

Laughing, you squeeze yourself through the little gaps to navigate the playground until you make it to the monkey bars.

You look around to see Luke clambering up the slide (the wrong way of course, what a rebel) and laugh gleefully.

“You can’t catch me!” You shout and begin to make your way across the monkey bars, knees rising to your chest so they don’t brush the tanbark-strewn ground.

Suddenly, you feel a tickle on your ribs and you squeal, releasing the bars out of reflex. Strong arms catch you before you hit the dirty ground.

Luke chuckles at you, putting you on your feet.

“I win!” He announces, cheekily.

You scowl, adjusting your beanie and huffing at your boyfriend.

“I’ll always catch you, baby.” Luke says, brushing hair off your cheek.

Then, before you can fully appreciate the romance of the moment, Luke (sixteen going on seven) grabs your hand and pulls you in the direction of the penguin enclosure.

And there you two stand, aww-ing over the adorable little non-flying birds ambling about on their little patches of ground and flopping in the water.

Luke wraps his arms around your waist and rests his chin on your shoulder.

“Good choice of animal.” You praise him. “I love the penguins.”

“And I love you.” Luke says, his breath caressing your ear.

You spin around in his arms until you’re nose to chest, looking up at him.

“Are you for real?” You ask, unsure.

“As real as these adorable penguins.” Luke replies, his voice serious but his eyes twinkling. “Of course I am, Skylar. I love you.”

A huge smile spreads across your face. “I love you too, Luke.”
