(A MONTH LATER)
-Cassia's POV-
The phone was ringing but there was no answer. Just when I was giving up hope, I heard her voice.
'Hello?'
'Hi Nicki!' I say, cheerfully.
'Oh hey!'
'I haven't seen you for ages. Anyway, I just wanted to know... Have you got him yet?' I ask nervously.
'Yeah! He's epic, a beautiful dapple grey, and you can clearly see he's a stallion. And, oh my gosh, so tall! The man said he's about sixteen hands! He's so lovely. I can't wait for you to meet him! I hope he'll get along with your horse. Anyway, were just loading him into the trailer and we'll be home in, around, half an hour? See you then,' Nicki said.
Herself and Linda went to pick up the new horse - a stallion. He'll be sharing a paddock with my horse but I hate where that's going. What if they mate? Still, it will be good for my horse to have a horse to share with so she's not so lonely. I said goodbye to Nicki and hung up, walking towards my horse. She had her head over the stable door and let out a loud neigh, greeting me.
Half an hour later they came back. I raced towards the trailer as they lead out the stallion. He was massive, clearly sixteen hands or even taller. He stood proud. His coat was a brilliant dapple grey with a silvery mane and tail, looking a bit like Moon. My mouth went sour at the thought of Moon.
Moon is dying and Linda sold him. I was devastated but at least he went somewhere where he will stop suffering so much. He will get better. He will!
'Dont you just love him?' Nicki squealed. I patted his neck. Oh my gosh. I love him.
'He's gorgeous, what's his name?' I ask. Linda steps forward towards me.
'We can re-name him but his owner said it was Elephant...' she says, patting his neck. Elephant. Okay. It may not be graceful or capture his true nature but it's fine.
I dont know why but the name Elephant makes me think of a bay horse at a show. I swallow and glance at my horse. Linda took her out of her stall and is leading her towards the field. My horse is bay. We haven't been to a show for ages, have we? I guess shows aren't really are thing, especially jumping. I think about the accident and shiver, focusing my attention on Elephant. Nicki is taking Elephant to the paddock with my horse. I hope they'll get along.
I say goodbye to Nicki and Linda and cycle home. When I get home Mum and Dad are in the kitchen, grinning. They hand me some paper. An invitation.
You're Invited To Share The Celebration Of The Marriage Of Keiran And Jess
From 13:00 pm to 12:00am you're invited to celebrate the wedding of Keiran and Jess at Lockland Abbey and then Lord Bagnel Hotel afterwards.
I rushed through the rest of the invitantion before running to the phone and dialling his number.
'Hello Cassia. Don't tell me you want to sell your horse again,' he said. I heard he had a smile in his voice.
'Whats this crap about you getting married at the Lord Bagshit?' I say, trying not to laugh. Lord Bagnel Inn is also known as the Lord Bagshit Hotel because it's so posh and is so expensive. How much must they have paid?
'Ahh... You got me. Actually, Jess's father, his name is Liam, paid for the venue. He left the rest to me. I paid over one hundred quid for her flipping dress. I hope she wears it down the isle. You're welcome to be bridesmaid of course, along with Jess's little sister,' he explains. I wonder. Do I really want to be bridesmaid or do I have too much on my plate already?
'Oh sure, why not. Oh yeah, congratulations! I suppose you'll be too busy with your new wife for me, eh?' Will this Jess be nice? Hang on, how long has he had a girlfriend? And how come I didn't know?
'Well actually your mother has invited us down to your house for lunch tomorrow and yourself and Jess can go through all the bridesmaid stuff. Then you can meet Crystal, Jess's sister. Oh my gosh, Crystal is lovely. She's twelve and absaloutly gorgeous. And her manners! She can't wait to meet you. Crystal likes horses too but doesn't ride or anything so maybe you can show her your horse? Some time, maybe? I'm sure Crystal would love to even ride your horse!' he goes on and on about this Crystal person.
'Mmkay. Did I tell you about the new stallion?'
'Nope but you can tell me tomorrow. I need to go now. Anyway, it was nice talking to you so bye Cass!'
'Bye!' I hang up and go up to my room.
I haven't talking to Mum or Dad for ages now, have I? Too busy with horses. My room is so hot for some reason and I change my clothes before going back downstairs to the living room.
