TALLY
After all that running we went to sleep almost immediately. There was a little cabin at a two miles range from the Technological Tower, where the Escorts were held. We stayed at that cabin for approximately a week and this was our last night here. Tomorrow was going to be a long day. We could use some sleep.
But not me, apparently. After lying down on my almost-bed (which was on the floor) Matt -whose somewhat-of-a-bed was right next to mine, on the floor-, decided that it was a good time for chit chat. Um, no. I was about to voice my thoughts when he started talking again.
"Do you think that it will turn out well?"he seemed very anxious. Damn.
"I don't know, Matty." He seemed dissapointed at my answer. "But don't think for a second that I will let you down. Not in the true sense of the word, anyway." He hummed satisfied and then fell asleep. He was dead beat tired. And I was left thinking, thanks to him. I have no idea how I will be able to wake up tomorrow. Thanks Matty, really. I appreciate it.
Matt. He was a close friend of mine and I trusted him. I really didn't like a lot of people. I think that less is more. But I seem to be extremely talkative when it comes to Matt. I mean how could I not? He was kind at heart and always knew what to say to cheer me up. I didn't expect him to feel the same way I did for him so when he decided to act on his feelings I was left speechless, something that doesn't happen often. Today was an exception. Anyone else would have reacted the same as I did, if not worse. I remeber vividly the night when Matt kissed me. I don't want to sound cheesy, but it was... something. Yeah. I'd rather not think about it whenever someone's around because a stupid smile formes on my face that no one should see. That would be embarassing. Matt technically wasn't my first kiss- when I was younger I have shared plenty of kisses on dares- but I would like to think that he is. It is him that I like, afterall.
All that thinking made me want to wake Matt up and ask him why he would do such thing. He knew that things would be weird after but he went on anyway. Moron.I mean, yeah, I know that he did it beacause he likes me and I'm glad, but there are other ways -more discreet ones - that would have worked out better. He and I are collegues. Sort of. The protocol says that any interaction with a teammate of the other gender would be punished with, as I like to call it, a bell in the head. Yeah. They take your badge and make you sit the chair. How pleasant. And since I didn't want that to happen I was not going to take any chances with a relationship with Matt in hopes that we will end up living a happy ever after in the sunset. No. Not at all. Call me ambitious, or whatever, but I am not going to let an almost-sort of-fling with him destroy my career.
God, my head is buzzing.I don't think I'll be getting any sleep tonight. With that thought I quietly went outside to look at the stars. They were thousands of them and they lit up the sky beautifully. As I watched them I started to get dizzy. My head grew heavy and my eyelids started to drop. Before I knew it I fell asleep.

Tally woke up the next morning at dawn. She looked around, not recognising her surroundings. Then she remembered the events of last night. She gasped in shock. They have succeded. Almost, she reminded her self. Well, the biggest part of the plan had gone smoothly. Now it was up to Wes and his little girlfriend. But still, Tally didn't seem to be able to put herself down and relax. Not a chance. She got up and headed towards the cabin. She opened the door silently, careful not to awake the others. It was too early and it was going to be a long day. They needed to rest.
After making herself breakfast -some superfruit and green tea with honey- she started packing her stuff, which weren't many. Just two shirts and pants that were already worn and filthy, a map with the network of the air pipes of the Technological Tower, a notebook and a pencil and high tech walkie talkies. After a half an hour or so, the others began to steer. At last. She was starting to get impatient. After everyone had had their breakfast they started packing too. Fifteen minutes later they were ready to go.
"Guys, I want to say that last night, you definitely had an excellent performance." Tally said. Everyone looked at her kind of shocked. She was being exceptionally bitchy for the past week and even though they knew that it was because she was nervous ecause of the mission, they were kinda grumpy too. This was good news. Tally was not a person that made compliments just for the fun of it. When she said something, she meant it. Everyone muttered a 'thank you' to her but they were proud. She looked satisfied.
With that said, they started walking at a fast pace to the direction of the Base. The Base was actually where the Rebels had built their community- somewhere deep into the woods, about twelve miles East from the Technological Tower- a community known to the rest of the world but not acknowledged by them because of their rebellious way of thinking, was making plans, training people and giving home to the ones who needed protection from the Heads. The Heads were dangerous and anyone who happened to cross paths with them had limited options. It was take it or die. Literally. In order to get away with murder, as they liked to say - their inside joke- you have to murder. That was in short the tactic the Heads followed and it worked damn well. They were sadistic enough, anyway.
After walking fastly for more than five hours they had reached their destination. At last. It was around 11:00 am and they needed to rest. But not before they had given report to their Leaders and doing some others time consuming chores. Tally sighed and continued with her day.
