That night was horrible. The night terrors were rising up and I knew it was apart of me, but I was so scared.

The next day at school started pretty bad. I mean, yeah, Luke ignored me, but everyone else didn't.

"Faggot."

"Freak."

"Ugly."

"You see that kid? Only guy who'd tap that is his momma!"

"Stupid emo, just go cut yourself."

"It's really a shame you didn't succeed in killing yourself."

I walked with my head low, trying to imagine that these people are just a reoccurring night terror. That I can just wake up and they'll be gone. But I blink and blink. I pinch my leg. I bite my tongue. I feel the pain and tears welt in my eyes.

They're real. These "reoccurring night terrors", the people who make me question my every move, they're real and that's the bitch of it all.

"You look beautiful, Mikey."

I hear it. I definitely wasn't supposed to hear the shout into oblivion. I wasn't supposed to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But goddamn, I saw it. I heard the shout and I reached for it.

I pulled Luke into a hug, sobbing on his shoulder.

"Please help, Luke. They won't go away." I cried.

Luke was uneasy with the embrace. He felt uncomfortable but yet he still whispered soothing nothings in my ear.

I believe it was at that exact moment it dawned on me.

I pulled away from Luke. "The man, who gave you all the bruises... He raped you didn't he." I whispered to Luke.

Luke's tough demeanor shattered before my eyes, and I saw something I'd never seen before. Luke was sad. So undeniably, overbearingly sad.

He tugged on my wrist a bit to show me to follow him.

We walked to the janitorial closet. "Mikey." Was the only word spoke before Luke melted into me.

His shout into the void wasn't for me to escape my nightmare, it was for help to escape his.

"He hurt me, Mikey. So bad." Luke wailed.

At that very moment, the half of a heart I had left after years of his mindless insulting, just shattered.

"Luke." My voice cracked and I brought him into me. I walked so I was against the door and pulled Luke closer than I thought humanly possible.

We sat there, ditching all of our classes. We sat through the heartless beating of the Janitor needing in. We sat through the numerous bells. We sat through the phone calls, the texts, the tweets. We just sat there. Him and I. Me and him.

Luke, having fallen asleep against my chest, woke up slowly.

"Afternoon, sunshine." I whispered, tipsy smile playing at my lips.

Luke quickly pushed away from me. And since I was against the door, "God, Luke you gotta stop doing that."

I recgonized that voice. It's the same voice who told Luke that he shouldn't have pushed me. It was my voice.

"Mikey?" He asked.

I nodded and then realized we were in the dark and said, "Yeah."

"I'm sorry. I thought you were Tyler." Luke said, rushed.

"Why would you think I'm my ex-boyfriend," I stopped to think about it, "No? Really? I will tear him limb from-"

"Mikey!" Luke laughed.

"Limb from Mikey? That doesn't sound fun." I joked.

"I'll take this arm," he grabbed my left arm, "Nom nom nom." He pretended to bite my arm off until eventually he ended up leaving about three hickey-like bruises there.

"Damn, Luke." I said, kind of bewildered.

"Sorry." I could hear the blush in his voice.

I, gaining bravery, grabbed his hips and brought him closer to me whispering, "You're pretty damn lucky you're so cute."

"How long have you thought I was cute?" Luke sounded insecure, like he thrived for my answer.

"Since the day in nursery when you walked in and I called you bambi." I answered truthfully.

Luke put his head on my chest.

"What about me?" I pryed.

"Huh, what?"

I laughed, feeling his head bob up and down with each chuckle passing my lips.

"Try and listen closer next time, stretch." I joked. He smiled into my shirt.

"Oh, save it, shortstack."
