I collapse in bed around 9. I don't care how early I'll be up. I just want to sleep. I lie awake for an hour or so before falling asleep. I can't take my mind off of Matt. How do you go about telling your best friend that your in love with him? I close my eyes and slowly fall asleep. I pick up my phone once I'm awake. 9:36. May as well... I call Matt and invite him over, letting him know that it's important. He says he'll be over at 1:00. Plenty of time to prepare myself... I make myself some breakfast and spend plenty of time pacing. I try to work some of my nerves out by spending a good hour or so drumming. 11:58. May as well go for a run...
I change into more comfortable clothes and head out. The brisk fall breeze adds an extra spring to my step. I run along the back roads to avoid being recognised. I slow my pace as I approach my flat and try to decide how I'm going to tell Matt how I feel. I enter the front door and check my phone. 12:36. Plenty of time for a shower.
I put on some grey skinnies that were once black, but have faded over time and a plain white button up shirt. I fix my hair then turn to the mirror and look myself sternly in the eyes. This is it. I pace around my flat until I hear a knock on the door. My heart skips a beat. I open the door and there he is. His blue eyes sparkling as he smiles with his one very crooked tooth. Seeing him there in front of me is making my heart pound and my hands shake. His smile fades and he looks at me with concern.
"Dom, are you okay?" he asks. "You're so pale..."
"Well I can't exactly pretend I'm fine anymore, can I?" I joke as we walk to the living room together. We sit down and he looks me straight in the eyes.
"Dominic, tell me what's wrong," he whispers with a demanding tone.
"Please, j-just give me a moment," stutter, lacing my fingers together to try and hide how much I'm shaking.
"Okay," he says, sitting back. "Take as much time as you need." And take my time is exactly what I do. We sit there in silence for at least 20 minutes before I can even work up the courage to speak.
"Matt, we've been friends since we were young," I mumble.
"I know. So why exactly are you telling me this?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. God damn it he's adorable.
"Well, what I'm about to tell you just might ruin our friendship. So if you have a problem with what I'm about to say, either tell me that and leave, or pretend that I never said it at all." I say, raising my voice slightly.
"Why would I have a problem with anything you say to me?" he questions innocently.
"Because I'm in love with you, that's why!" I shout, my voice shaking heavily.
"Oh.."
SORRY THIS CHAPTER IS SO SHORT! I'LL HAVE ANOTHER UP SOON! HAVE A NICE DAY! :D
