Chapter 21- Heart Attack

Author's note: OKAY so I hope I didn't bore you guys to death with my attempt of a touchy  feely moment. I'm sorry I need to watch more romantic anime instead of just horror and gore all the time º~º Comment your recommendations!

As the sun peeked over the grassy horizon, rays of light crept into a dark room. They reached a bed and shone upon the two bodies. The contrast between the pale and tanned body was striking.

Ayano slowly opened her eyes when the warmth of the rays heated her back. She twitched her fingers, and realised that they were flat against a stony chest. A perfectly tanned chest that rose and fell slowly, a bit of brown fuzz covering its surface. Ayano raised her eyes and stared at the sleeping face of Eren.

Her heart did something that was unfamiliar to her.

Ayano breathed in deeply to calm her suddenly speeding heart, but only succeeded in inviting Eren's scent into her nostrils. He smelled like dust and sweat and grass and... like himself.

An arm wrapped around Ayano's waist tightened as a quiet groan left Eren's mouth. Thank you, the girl thought after she had remembered her nightmare. She felt nauseous when she thought about it and inhaled Eren's scent again. I wonder if there are girls back home who would enjoy being in my position? Ayano smiled at the humorous thought. Eren's too much of an idiot to attract girls.

"Even though she's distracted as hell, she still can't be beaten!" Connie exclaimed as Jean limped away from Mikasa. He groaned dramatically when his sorry ass reached them.

"Why did I even think for one second that I might have been able to beat her..." Jean moaned.

"Probably because your head is full of hot air." Sasha giggled. This earned a glare from Jean.

"Shut up, Blouse." He growled.

"Alright! That's enough for today!" Squad Leader Hanji said. "You are all excused until 8pm for dinner!" The soldiers saluted and slowly departed the sparring grounds. Mikasa, on the other hand, stayed where she was and faced Wall Rose that stood proudly in the distance.

Just like she had for the past few days.

"Mikasa? Aren't you coming?" Armin approached from behind, returning from the stables along with his Squad C. Mikasa didn't move.

"I'm worried about him." She finally stated after a moment of silence. Armin tried to smile reassuringly and patted Mikasa's shoulder.

"I'm sure they're fine." He reassured, ignoring the fact that his friend only mentioned Eren. "Both are capable of taking care of themselves." The raven haired girl's eyes grew stony and sad simultaneously.

"So he keeps telling me." Her haematic scarf fluttered in the slight breeze that suddenly rose. Armin set his jaw.

"Just as you don't want him to get hurt, he doesn't want you to die because of his stupid actions. We both know how reckless he can get." Mikasa gave an amused smirk at that.

"Yeah, the idiot can get rowdy if it suits him." She laughed shortly. Armin smiled at this.

"Besides, they're both titan shifters, and Ayano's strength proved to be next to Levi's." Mikasa's smile melted.

"Yeah, just like mine. Or, just like mine was." A hearty laugh sounded from behind them.

"Oh, Mikasa! Don't tell me that you're jealous of Ayano!" Ymir slung an arm around Mikasa's shoulders, a grin stretching from ear to ear. "I mean, Ayano is a stalemate for Levi." Armin started waving his hands and sent giant red flags. "I'm pretty sure that she found your boyfriend out by now..."
