A cold chill runs down my spine. I rise. Its morning. It was just a dream. A very hazy and lofty dream. But a heavy and unforgettable dream. My head felt like chunks of lead have been tied down to it. Getting up was an immense struggle, as that vision took a lot out of my body. I scramble out of my tent and to the nearest pitcher of water. I splashed a bit of water from the palm of my hands. A long stare into the rising sun as I nearly about to collapse into the daze of sleeplessness.

“Beautiful”

It has been well over a few months since the arrival of this strange new world. We managed to crate a petite, mobile village for ourselves. Moving from plains to forest and back to plains; collecting, hunting, building, spell-weaving, and praying. It was almost no different from our old lives. The only thing we had to let go was the comforts and sanctuary of the city walls.

“Is this place desolate of civilization” one of the villagers said on a trek

“I have a sneaking suspicion that there is. The question is, will be welcomed as weary, impoverished travelers? Or be cast off with a cold shoulder” I responded

Adonia soon rises from her slumber, eagerly walking to me. Her eyes dart around for signs of breakfast, only to be disappointed. She then decides to sit by me and look towards my line of sight out of curiosity.

“What are we looking at?”

“The face of a new day.”

“Well thats obvious, its dawn. But what are you looking at?”

“The face of a new day, is there really more I need to explain?”

“You are strange. Can't you just tell me what you are looking at. I know its 'the face of a new day' but can you just tell me what you are looking?”

“Alright fine, Apollo riding his chariot across the sun!”

“Ugh! Why bother...” Groaning while getting up.

Adonia walks around for a bit, with a puzzled look in her eyes. A question was about to burst from her lips at any moment.

“So how well did you slept last night?”

“I had the most incredible dream I had for years as a sorcerer and a priest!” I exclaimed

“Really now, because I had a crazy dream as well. Let me hear your dream first!” Adding a small giggle for closure.

“Well...we just awaken from that miracle and everything was fine and well and went just as happened that day. Then, all of a sudden, our crosses glow and we suddenly fell, blacked out. I was laying there, surrounded by these Brobdingnagian columns and spirals of clouds.”

Adonia just sat there, mesmerized by the telling of my tale.

“I could have sworn I died and entered Elysium. A Seraph stands before me with a figure that could transcend consciousness! He proclaimed to me 'O' Adraman, born ye in the center of the world. It hath been written that ye shall be king of the starry Jerusalem.'”

“And then!?” Adonia asked eagerly

“Then...you figure it out!” I said as a gag

“Oh come on now!” She moaned with an annoyed look

“Hehehehe ok ok, so we woke up and everyone was shocked to find out that I had became an angel. Thats it!”.

“Wow. That was amazing”

“Now what was your dream about?”

Her faced blushed in muddiness as Adonia collects her thoughts.

“It wasn't as holy as yours was.” She sighed with regret in her words

“Why is that Adonia?”

“Well, I woke up in a middle of a shivering snow storm. It was dark and cold and miserable! Every bad feeling I had rushed into my head and I nearly cried. I wanted to die in the snow and the frost! Then, just as before I fainted in the frigid winds, a warm glow was gleaming at the distance. The voice of my mother echoed through the darkness 'Adonia, Adonia, my beautiful princess, cry no more. Your tears shall forged by your hands into a kingdom of shimmering crystals!'.”

She nearly started to cry.

“I tried to run to my mother. But I couldn't move my legs! Its like they were frozen stuck, numb to the floor! And I screamed at the light 'Mother! Mother Come back!'. But I knew she never can come back from the dead! It was a stupid, stupid dream!”

Adonia began to yawl intensely and I hugged her, keeping her head to my shoulder.

“Oh Adonia, Adonia, Adonia, never say that was a stupid dream! It was a beautiful gift from the Heavens to let you hear your mother's voice again. All things pure shall rise with the bountiful

land with flowing milk and honey. One day Adonia, you will see your mother again.”

At the time, I meant at the afterlife. Oh how I was so wrong.

“But what if Heaven doesn’t like me! What if I am just a rotten demon who deserve to burn in hell!” Adonia shouted

“Now why do you say such things Adonia?”

“I don't know! You're a priest and a much better magician than I am! Was I just born evil!”

“Well I have been treating you like a father for the past 6 years and I have taught you so much."

“Well maybe I just can't learn!” She pouts

“Oh for goodness sake! You are 18 years old! You want your hand to be held until you are 30!

You are well past your fertility years! If you can't be married off to a family, then at least make yourself useful! I love you Adonia, but its time you grow up!”

“How can I grow up!” Adonia snapped with anger

“Only you can solve that answer. I have to lead a group of men, women and children in our

journey into the aether! You only have to lead yourself!”

Adonia pauses, reflecting on the moment.

The rest of the crew gather around for their normal routine of morning prayers and breakfast. Everyone was then off to work as usual, gathering berries and firewood, making tools, hunting, etc. Adonia kept a disdain, melancholy demeanor throughout the day. Its quite astonishing how much pride she can hold on before she admits to error. I pray to this day that she could have subsided that pride in our most darkest hours.
