Entry #2; Gotta love the rodeo
We'll start the story before I was even born, how Ray and my mom met, and how it worked that Ryan doesn't know he's my dad.
Enjoy,

It was a warm day, windy, but still warm. All anybody could talk about though, was the Swellview rodeo. People were pumped!

It was weird for a small town, to have a rodeo. But Swellview was a weird town, home to it's very own super hero, Captain Man.

Cathy Putch was just as excited as everyone else for the rodeo, she'd grown up riding horses. Mind you, it was English style that she'd learnt, not the Western style prominent at the rodeo. But horses are horses.

It hadn't always been easy for her growing up as a superhero's kid. Lots of training, trying to live up to her sister's shadow, not enough time to do normal things with friends, and don't even mention dating. There was a reason she had come to the rodeo alone.

There was a guy she'd met a year ago through a friend, and while they had been dating for almost as long, she enjoyed just being by her lonesome sometimes. He was one of the few good guys without powers, that seemed cool. He was a normal guy, smart, nice, not ugly, regular good job. All the normal things. But, no powers. Which was a little weird, considering her whole family and almost all her friends were superheroes or had powers.

Cathy grabbed a free program from one of the staff handing them out. Browsing through it, she found the one thing that really interested her, barrel racing. It was the most exciting, and it was mostly girls competing, at least at the event here in Swellview.

The packet had some basic info, the main competitors, prize money, etcetera. Nothing really important.

Losing interest, Cathy folded the piece of paper back up and placed it get back pocket, she then turned towards the grandstand. She decided the top would be the best spot to see everything, and no one else seemed to be up there, probably because of the stairs, so why not?

She made her way up, and picked a seat. She had just gotten settled, when she heard a huge gasp from the crowd. Turning her head to follow what everyone else was freaking out about, she could just make out a flash of red and blue, with a hint of yellow, standing in the middle of the growing crowd.

Oh how wonderful, it's Captain Man.
Cathy thought to herself. Of course she had heard of Swellview's infamous hero. He was all anyone in the superhero community world could talk about; a superhero with human-made powers. Who had ever heard of such a thing? Certainly not the people Cathy was used to hanging out with. Those were the people who were born to be superheroes, some were almost bred for the job, based on who their parents were.

Cathy had gotten lucky, her parents were both good superheroes, with strong powers, but neither parent had any interest in forcing their daughters to continue the family tradition, so when her big sister had decided she was going to do it anyways, all pressure was taken off of her to do it.

That didn't mean she was against being a superhero, just the thought scared her, and she felt it would be easier to stay out of that life. She knew if she ever had a kid, she'd probably have to train them and stuff, so anti-hero was not the way to go.

Cathy sighed and shook her head to clear her thoughts. In the time that she had blacked out, the crowd had lost interest in Captain Man. The competitors for the first event had entered the ring, so he was free to go, and he was coming in her direction.

Cathy had chosen the row of seats, second from the very top of the grandstand. Captain Man chose the one row behind her. Deciding to be friendly, she turned to speak to him.
