Entry #3; Wedding Crasher
Since Ryan and my mom got married before I was born, I didn't get to be the flower girl. Thankfully Ryan has a sister who did get married after I was born. Unfortunately the happy couple were not the centre of attention...
Enjoy,
- Debbie xoxo

"Debbie Putch you get back here this instant!" her mother's voice carried over the large outdoor event venue. At five, Debbie was the picture of troublemaker. Her giggles reached her mother's ears and sent her into a renewed panic, looking for her daughter. Debbie giggling was never a good sign.

"Gotcha!" Cathy exclaimed as she grabbed her daughter up into her arms by the dessert table. "Now what were you up to?" She took in Debbie's frosting covered cheeks and paled slightly, worried about what that could mean.
"I got cake!" Debbie exclaimed excitedly, grinning up at her mother with an innocent smile on her face.
"Where did you get cake from?" Cathy asked, frowning.
"There." Debbie pointed a chubby finger in the direction of the wedding cake, where it was clear a small piece of the bottom section was gone. Cathy groaned.
"Great, now we have to go explain to you aunt why there's a price missing from her cake," Cathy said to Debbie. Debbie squirmed in her mother's arms at her words.
"No! I want to go play!" she exclaimed, looking over at a bunch of other younger kids running around on the grass nearby. Cathy sighed and let Debbie down, who then ran off to the other kids and joined in with their games.

After watching her daughter run away, Cathy looked around, her eyes landing on her husband talking with the bride and groom. The wedding ceremony had gone off without a hitch earlier and now the reception had been going smoothly as well, except for the cake mishap that Debbie was now responsible for. Cathy made her way over to where Ryan stood, and he smiled at her as caught her eye.

"Hey babe," he said, throwing an arm around her shoulder and pulling her to his side.
"Hey to you too." She kissed him quickly on the cheek before pulling away to smile at his sister Katerina and her now husband, Pete. "Congratulations, lovely ceremony you two," Cathy said.
"Thank you," Katerina replied graciously, before grinning up at the man next to her.

"Ryan, I need to talk to you for a second," Cathy said, tugging on his arm urgently. He gave her a confused look but smiled at his sister in apology before letting his wife pull him away.
"What's wrong?" he asked, concern evident in his tone and appearance.
"Debbie took a piece of the cake and got it all over her face," Cathy whispered furiously, breaking his gaze to look over in the direction of Debbie and the other children. Ryan stared at her, dumbfounded.
"You're kidding right?"
"No!" Cathy hissed. Ryan didn't say anything at first, and looked over at Debbie thoughtfully. His face then broke out into a grin and he laughed, causing Cathy to hit his arm with the back of her hand. "It's not funny!" she exclaimed. "Your sister is going to be furious."
"No she won't. Debbie as her Aunty Kat wrapped around her little finger." Ryan said. He then dragged Cathy back over to where Katerina and Pete were standing.

"Everything alright?" Katerina asked, her face crinkly slightly as she frowned in concern.
"That's depends sis," Ryan answered with a playful smile on his face.
"Oh?" It was Pete that replied, with an inquiring look.
"It appears your darling niece had first dibs on the cake."
"Ryan!" Cathy hissed and slapped his arm again. She cringed and glanced over at her sister-in-law. Katerina looked flabbergasted briefly, glancing over at the dessert table, to Debbie, and then back to her brother. Cathy waited expectantly for the anger, but it never came. Instead, Katerina's face broke out into a smile.

"I'm surprised she waited until now. She's been eyeing it since the ceremony," Pete said, sharing a grin with his bride.
"Me too," Katerina said in agreement. Cathy stared at the both of them with wide eyes before turning look at her husband.
