Entry #7; Jasper Dunlop
Not even my friends know about this, and this will be final entry.
Enjoy,
- Debbie xoxo

I had started talking to Jasper in the halls unexpectedly one day. I'm not sure how it started, I think it had something to do with buckets—it always did with him—and it had continued after that.

While I liked talking to him—even about things like buckets—I was still unsure if I had made the right decision in inviting him over to Sarah's house after our run-in with the evil villains trying to off her parents.

"Hey," Jasper said as I stepped outside the front door and onto the porch. He sounded casual and relaxed, but I knew that he was anything but. Casual and relaxed just didn't go with Jasper. It was like an anomaly, and everyone that knew him I'm sure recognized that. I certainly did.

"Hey," I greeted in return. I took a step towards him, but not before I quickly checked the surroundings to make sure that no one was around. The last thing I wanted was for somebody see us here together.

"So how come you're at Sarah's house?" Jasper asked. I shrugged.
"She's my cousin, it's a family thing," I explained. "Thanks for coming when I called."
"No problem," Jasper said with a smile. "Why did you call though?" His expression had turned curious.
"Just to talk," I answered nonchalantly. Realistically I just knew that his friends were otherwise occupied so I could talk to him without them interrupting.

"Oh, okay. What about?" Jasper asked.
"Uh, nothing specifically," I said, before taking a seat on the porch step and motioning for Jasper to join me. He took a seat next to me and offered me a small smile.

We fell into silence after that, just smiling at each other. It was somewhat awkward, but our conversation just before had been even more awkward so this was somewhat better.

"Have you heard from Henry or Charlotte recently? They aren't answering my texts," Jasper said, interrupting the silence. I eyed him cautiously, thinking over how to best answer his question.
"I heard from them earlier, but that's it," I said. Jasper now looked seriously bummed. "They said that they got caught up in something at work, and to tell you that," I added quickly. "My bad for forgetting until now." Jasper seemed to perk up a bit at that.
"Don't worry about it. It's cool," he said, hiding his disappointment from earlier.

That was probably the best thing about Jasper—he could take something that may have not been that pleasant and bounce back from it easily with a smile on his face. I think that was also something I liked about him, his positivity was contagious and I almost always felt happy around him.

"So, Jasper, do you work?" I asked.
I wanted to keep talking to him, but I wasn't sure how. I was really starting to question why I had called him in the first place. Cause you wanted to see him, and talk to him Debbie!

Jasper regarded me curiously before answering,
"Well I mean, no. But it would be nice to get a job with Henry and Charlotte," he said. He looked off into the distance wistfully. "I miss my friends you know? They're like always busy now. I normally get stuck hanging out with Piper." They way he spoke of Henry's little sister led me to believe that he wasn't overly fond of her, and based on what I had heard from Sarah of her and my own personal experience, I couldn't say that I was surprised.

"Well, you could always hang out with me," I suggested with a shrug.
"Yeah?" Jasper asked, glancing at me with an appraising look in his eyes.
"For sure. Besides Sarah, I actually don't really hang out with people outside of school," I said with a shrug.

Sure, it sucked that I wasn't as popular as my parties led on, but I didn't mind it. I'd rather have one friend that I really liked and connected with than a whole bunch whose guts I hated.

"You really don't hang out with people?" Jasper asked me, surprise evident in his expression.
"Nope." I shook my head and offered him a small smile.
"I'd love to hang out with you sometime then," he said with a very bright smile.

I was about to respond, when I thought I heard a noise coming from somewhere nearby. I turned and looked around the surrounding area, but nothing seemed out of place and I didn't hear anything else. I glanced back at Jasper and saw him giving me a confused look.

"I thought I heard something," I explained. I then checked the time on my phone and noted that somebody would likely notice that I was missing soon and call me back in. "I should actually probably head back inside." I looked back up at Jasper and offered him an apologetic smile. "Thank you for coming, it was nice to just talk to someone."

"Anytime Debbie. I'll text you?" he said, standing up from the porch. I smiled and did the same.
"Yeah for sure." I waved and watched him leave before I walked inside the house, knowing full well that I was lucky that no one had seen me.

Or so I thoughtsince Sarah questioned me about it later. That was definitely an interesting conversation.

* * *

It was after Sarah had defeated Lord X. She was in the hospital recovering, and I doubted I'd be seeing her—or Henry for that matter—anytime soon. I was okay with that though, because it gave me the perfect opportunity to hang out with my boyfriend.

I was positive that Sarah, Henry, and Charlotte were all on to us and it was nice that we could hang out without worrying about them breathing down our necks.

I had certainly been crazy since that day I had met Jasper outsides Sarah's house. For starters, now Jasper knew everything—literally everything—about the world of Captain Man and Kid Danger. Well, I guess not everything since he didn't know about the Lord X thing, and he didn't know about Sarah's parents or Ray being my dad. He did know about my powers and my cousin's though, so that made being with him a lot easier.

It had been a crazy ride, dealing with all this Lord X crap. Sarah had confided in me that he was actually her uncle and that's why she had been able to defeat him. I felt terrible for her; knowing that much evil was related to me would've killed me, but it was her dad's side, not her mom's, which was my side.

I was actually also worried about her for another reason too. As soon as her parents had seen what she could do in battle, I automatically knew that they were planning how to get her to become a full-fledged hero. They never really wanted me to take over the family business, so to speak. I was just necessary because in their opinions Sarah was of no value to them. Until she got powers that is.

I wasn't sure what they were planning for her exactly, but I doubted their intentions. My intentions for the time being though, were to hang out with my very awesome and bucket obsessed boyfriend, while looking out for my cousin.

I thought those were great ways to embrace the fact that I didn't have to be a hero—but that I wanted to be one.

And that my friends, is the truth about Captain Man's daughter. I hope you enjoyed reading about parts of my life.

Love,
Debbie
