I get up from my chair, my breakfast still un-eaten. Again my wolf wants to growl. I beat her down until the urge passes. I take a deep breath.
"I'm going for a walk. I'll be back in a bit." I step out of the kitchen and walk briskly down the hall and grab my coat. I can eat later.
"You've been going on an awful lot of 'walks' these days Luce." Lockwood remarks from the kitchen doorway. I allow myself the smallest growl, but I keep it quiet so Lockwood doesn't hear.
"I've needed some fresh air to think. Thats all." And with that I open the door and march down the steps, across the road and into the woods of the park. As soon as the front door of the house is out of sight, I morph. I walk over to a pool of water and look at myself. I'm a tawny brown wolf with streaks of silver. My muzzle gray. Same as always.
"Took you long enough! What was that about?" my wolf starts asking questions.
"Stop it" I say back through the link "That was them being overprotective. That's all"
"It was more than that and you know it. At least from the tall brown haired one. Now give me control. We need to scout for Jiska."
"Okay" Then I sit back and enjoy the ride giving my wolf (Aka Larka) complete control. I just watch. With our combined strength we move at about 230 miles an hour. Then I start to push and we go faster. We cover all of the coasts of England in less than 3 minutes.
"Nothing" I say scanning the woods when we get back.
"Agreed. Now isn't that Fittes parade tonight?"
"Yes. We better get going." I morph back and set off back to the house. I pull my coat tighter around me just to appear normal, but in truth I was sweating. Being a werewolf means I get hot easy. I open the door.
"I'm home!" I call through the house I step through the door.
"About time!" Holly calls back. She bustles down the hall until she's standing in front of me. "The parade is tonight. Go get changed." In that moment her voice sounds so much like my mothers I almost flinch. Instead I put on my brightest smile.
"Okay." And with that I walked past her, up the stairs and to my bedroom. As soon as I'm alone I let the mask slip. I let out a soft snarl of frustration before stalking over to my closet.
I change into a pair of jean short-shorts and a black t-shirt. I then pull a long sleeved black dress over top. I slip on a pair of grey tights and my black cardigan. Then I brush out my now waist length hair before grabbing an elastic to tie it up with later. I look in the mirror. The truth was my sister was here. I just hid it from my wolf. I wanted Jiska to find me. I had the necklace that would unlock everything she ever wanted.
She had something more precious then anything in the world, at least to me. She had my younger brother and sister.
She had Lily and Max.
