We've been driving for hours. You think we would have made it to the canyon that is by Lisa's house by now but nope. According to the signs, another four hours. I glance back and see my siblings curled up in the back seat. They were taking this surprisingly well, all things considered. I move my eyes back to the road. Nothing for miles in both directions. I'll have to pull over for the night.

I pull over into the ditch and turn off the headlights. I crawl into the backseat and hold the two kids close to my chest. Nobody was going to hurt them. Never again. Then I close my eyes and drift off into sleep.

I wake up early. I pull out two protein bars for the two, and leave the rest in the bag. I've made it this long without food, I can make it a bit farther. I crawl back into the drivers seat and pull out of the ditch. Four more hours then we'd be safe. Nothing could touch us at Lisa's house. The thing is practically a fortress.

"Lucy?" I turn to look in the back seat and sure enough, Lily's awake.

"Hey kiddo. How are you feeling?" I turn my eyes back to the road. Still nothing.

"Where are we going?"

"Lily, do you remember Lisa? My friend who helped us before? We're gonna go live with her." Theres a giggle from the backseat.

"YAY! Lucy who was the man from before? The one who told us to go in the house?" My jaw tightens. She won't understand...

"Sweetheart, that man is named Anthony Lockwood. He's a friend, but he's a bit confused right now. I'll go back and talk to him at some point." risking a glance back Lily doesn't look satisfied. "Listen, why don't you go back to sleep. You've had a rough week." Lily nods before putting her head down and soon enough her chest rises and falls in a deep slumber. I shake my head before setting my tired eyes on the road ahead.
