Chapter One

I Know Him and You're interfering

"Cowboy, remind me again why we are stalking the front door of your old CIA building," Illya asked Solo. Both of them had sat through breakfast and lunch at a cafe as Napoleon watched the door to the agency like a hawk.

"Not now, Peril," Napoleon brushed him off as Ann walked out of the building. "There she is," the dark haired man pointed out the blonde to Illya, "and she's coming this way, act natural." Illya stared at Napoleon as if he had lost his mind.

Ann made her way across the street to the small cafe. She walked in, not even noticing the two spies who sat outside of her regular dining spot.

"Excuse me, Peril," Napoleon stood entering the building.

"Why if it isn't Ann-Marie Millington," her mother called from the register.

"Hi mom," she greeted, hugging her from across the bar. "Can you watch Nicholas tonight. I have something that came up," Ann requested looking helpless.

"Of course I can," her mom exclaimed, "why wouldn't I?"

"I just wanted to make sure," Ann held her arms up in defense, as Napoleon came and sat near them. Ann saw the man sit out of the corner of her eye. "The usual please," Ann-Marie asked of her mother, sending her away. Leaving her by herself waiting.

"Ann? Ann-Marie Millington," Napoleon exclaimed, feigning surprise. She looked him over, she recognized his face, but couldn't find the name. "It's me, Napoleon. Napoleon Solo," he smiled.

"Solo," she gasped, all the pieces clicking together. "What are you doing back here," she asked, pushing aside the shock of seeing her former, partner and best friend. Her mother came back over with her food, ringing her food up.

"Funny enough, to see you," he smiled at her, as she handed over the money.

"Really," she scoffed, "how many women have you used that on again," she asked sardonically. He was taken aback by how abrasive she was. He chuckled nervously. "That's what I thought," she rolled her eyes, grabbing the food and turned to leave.

"Wait, Annie-"

"Don't call me that, you lost that right three years ago," she snarled at him.

"Ann-Marie, I would like to introduce you to some people, if you'd come with me," Solo asked her, grabbing her by the elbow.

"Sorry, I need to get back, you know being at the CIA and all. We don't all have the leisure of not working all the time," Ann tugged her arm back.

Napoleon followed Millington across the street, towards the CIA building. "Ann, please just listen to what these people have to say," he begged.

"I'm sorry Solo, but I'm two weeks into a case and I can't have you messing this up now. So no, I'm not meeting with anybody. Good day," she replied walking away. Napoleon sighed, as felt someone come stand by his side.

"Nice work, Cowboy," Illya remarked sarcastically.

Ann finished her hair and makeup, when Nicholas walked into her room.

"Mamma, you look so pretty," the small child beamed. Ann-Marie looked towards her sister's child. She would have been so proud of what he had become.

"Thank you baby," she smiled, kissing his forehead. "Grandma is going to watch you tonight. Mamma has to work, okay?"

"Okay," Nic replied excitedly.

"I love you, see you in the morning," Ann said.

"See you in the morning," the child replied.

Ann-Marie walked into the ballroom. She was scanning the room for Hester Adlersflügel, her mission, and more importantly a Nazi with information that could start a World War III before the world had recovered from the last one. He was 65 years old and disgusting, but nonetheless Ann was not one to back away from a challenge. She had snuck into his room earlier and laced his Scotch. Tonight was the night to steal that information and get out.
