The coconut halves were the size of a bowl and I had put all the veggies in the other empty half. There were a lot. Before Riley had left, she poured the water in the other coconut shell and it had been boiling over the fire ever since. The handmade stove worked perfectly!
Once she returned, she collected all the veggies (which were already in the other coconut shell) and left. She came back and they were washed. She spilled 1/4 of the veggies in the boiling water and left again. But this time, I had nothing to do. I just sat there, staring at the soup. There was still a while until it cooked. I waited for about 10 minutes and Riley returned with a coconut shell full of all different kinds of those berries. It was a smart idea to use the coconut shells as little bowls.
"Uh...Riley, I'm gonna check out what the others are doing."
"Sure. But also bring me 2 more coconuts, will you?"
"Yea, ok." I said while running off to find Joy. I started to explore the other half of this island I haven't been to. But it was only woods. There were more berries but there weren't any bananas, coconuts, or any vines to swing around on. This half didn't seem fun. But there were other stuff that we couldn't find in the first half. Like all those veggies Riley brought back. They weren't hard to find at all.
By the time I reached the end of the woods, I saw the beach. Well, at least the beach from one half of this place. This side of the beach seemed deserted; yet, this whole place is deserted. I didn't find any more than wild veggies and berries in the woods. So I went back, and I crossed the meadow-like place again. The soup was almost done. But Riley wasn't there. It smelled so good, I remembered I hadn't eaten for so long. I hadn't eaten ever since the breakfast from the ship. I was reminded of my hunger by the soup, I decided not to hang around for long.
But even after I left the place, the smell lingered in my nose. I was losing my energy quick. The soup that was cooking now, was only enough for one person. So that's why Riley told me to bring back 2 other coconuts.
As I passed the bushes of berries I ate a few, which helped very little for my hunger. I strolled all the way back to the main beach—the place we landed on—without even the slightest urge to swing on the vines. They were fun before, but before, I hadn't been reminded of my hunger.
On the main beach I found Emma, but there was no sign of Joy. I walked over to her, which she was on her knees, digging a long hole. She had made it longer and longer until she made a curve. She had drew a gigantic S. Emma got up from her knees and walked towards the water. Her knees were dirty and she held half a coconut which she also used as a bowl. She bent down and scooped up some water and walked back to the hole. She handed me the other half of the coconut and told me to do the same, until the S was filled up with water. This would take a while.
"Why do you want me to do this?"
"Because it'll take all day for just me to do this!"
"No, I mean why are you doing this?"
"You'll see." She said with a grin. It looks like everyone had their own plans today. I have no idea what Emma is doing and Riley's cooking up something for us all, while Joy's out exploring. I had wanted to build a shelter because it looks like we'll never get out of this place.
"Later." I said heading towards the broken down boat. "I need to do something first!" I shouted.
I bent down as my stomach growled but I just ignored it. I searched for the rope, but I couldn't find it. Then I noticed some seafood cans had fallen out and were lying on the sand; and most in the water. I groped for the rope under water as I felt the sand between my toes mix with the water I was standing on.
I finally found it. I rolled it up and headed towards the coconut trees. On my way, I satisfied myself with a banana and waved to the one group of monkeys who lived here. When I reached the coconut trees I climbed it up with the little energy I had left and gathered not two, but 3 just incase. It was easy to climb up, but the hard part was coming down, especially with the three coconuts in my arms. I made it down half way and decided I couldn't do it any more. From this point, I jumped off, but my jump was higher than I thought it would be. I landed with a bug thump and all the coconuts scattered everywhere. I could feel the vibration on my feet but I just ignored it.
As I was walking towards the meadow-like place, I listened to the growling of my stomach and never once felt like having any fun. Soon my nose found its way to the smell of the soup, and my eyes didn't even have to be open to reach the place. I found Riley there, on her knees stirring the soup with a peeled stick. Wait, what? She peeled a stick? Weird...
Anyways, I handed her the coconut and dropped the rope on the ground near a tree, while I lied down on the hard ground.
Noticing my weariness, she told me, "Don't worry, you can have the first soup." She reassured with an amiable smile, as she took the coconuts and cracked them herself. Then she drank from on and handed me the other two.
"You drink these while I go and wash this one up." She again gave me a grin.
I got to a sitting position and took the coconuts from her. She stood there waiting for me to drink. Once I finished one of them she took both halves and ran to the woods, also with the other two halves she drank from.
I started to think. How is she washing all these when the only water around here are the beaches? She can't go all the way to the beach and wash the items, yet still come back in 5 minutes. But maybe there is a pond or lake that I've missed while I was walking to the other side. I looked up at the sky, and the sun was setting. How did I survive when I hadn't eaten for 2 days?! Maybe I was hallucinating...maybe time isn't what it seems to me right now. Well I definitely felt like sleeping, yet I was too hungry to close my eyes. I felt dizzy and my vision came to a blur.
I looked at the boiling soup and tried not to concentrate on the smell, but I just couldn't help it. I looked around and noticed a group of large leaves she had gathered and used them somewhat like a cloth. On the leaves, she had the one coconut shell she used to get the water, the knife from the boat, and also 5 pealed sticks, one she had used to stir the soup. At least this way, the utensils wouldn't get dirty. Utensils....utensils....that's what she had made! The pealed sticks were like wooden utensils! I don't know why I didn't think of this before. Well, with my energy draining, so was my brainpower. And with those thought in the air, I lost consciousness and drifted off to sleep.
So this is it for this chapter, and I I hope u enjoyed 😉
