~"Mummy, have you ever had a dream?" Mandy asked as she stared up at her mother, with her bright blue eyes.
"Yes, baby I have," Her mother replied, smiling down at her little girl.
"Did your dream come true?" Mandy sat beside her mother awaiting her answer.
"Yes, about five years ago. My dream was born and she made me the happiest woman alive. My dream is with me everyday, my dream is you, Mandy." Her mother said, while pushing a strand of her daughter's hair behind her ear. The little girl looked up at her mother and smiled. She thought about
what her dream will be, while she laid down on her mother's lap and fell into a deep sleep.
***** 20 years later*****
I sat at home counting the thin green pieces of paper laying on my bed, '498, 499, 5 thousand.' I finally have enough to go! Ever since I was 15 years old I've been saving up my money to go to California. I've lived in the small town of McSherrystown, Pennsylvania all of my life and have dreamed about traveling. I looked at my window and followed the tiny water droplets that were sliding down the glass from the light rainfall out side. There was a movement in my pocket, and I reached for my vibrating phone. 'CJ' was flashing across my screen, and I smiled at the name. I swiped my thumb across the screen to unlock the phone and tapped the accept button. "Hey CJ!" I greeted through the phone.
"Hey Mandy, how are you?"
"I'm doing good, how about yourself?" I answered.
"I've been great! I just counted all the money I've been saving and guess what?" He said excitedly.
"You reached it?!" I asked.
"Yup, $5,000 exact!"
"Oh my gosh me too!" I yelled excitedly. He just chuckled into the phone.
"I'll be over tomorrow to talk. Is 10:30 okay?"
"Yeah! See you tomorrow C."
"Bye M."
CJ is my best friend. We've known each other since we were 7. When we turned 15 we made this plan to move to California together for a couple of weeks. He is quite the looker, which sounds weird coming from my mouth, but it's true. He's not my type anyway. He has short blond hair and bright blue eyes. He's toned and was the quarterback in high school. He spends his time mostly with me, or taking care of his nephew, Nico. His sister died in a carcrash last year, and his brother in law left before Nico was born. CJ lives 2 blocks down from me with his father. His father is a nice guy and takes care of Nico when CJ can't. His father is the closest thing I've had to a dad, since my dad died from lung cancer.
I ran downstairs to tell my mum about the news.
