"Mum! Mum! Mum!" I screamed while running down the stairs, taking three at a time. " My mum looked up from her paper and smiled.
"What's up B?" My mother has been calling me 'B' ever since I was a little girl. The nickname came from my middle name, Brooke.
"CJ and I raised 5 thousand each. Mum we're going to California!" I yelled and jumped up and down. My mum cupped her hand over her mouth and gasped.
"Oh my, baby girl I'm so proud of you!" She exclaimed and pulled me in for a hug. We talked for about half an hour when the front door opened and my mum's boyfriend stumbled in. I could smell the alcohol on his breath from across the room. I stepped in front of my mother protectively. "What are you doing here, you're suppose to be at work." I growled at him.
"Oh, just up bitch." he slurred and threw me against the wall. He's been abusing me for over 5 years now. He started the month after my father died. My mother only found out about a month ago when she walked in on me changing and saw the bruises on my hips. She couldn't leave him though, because he threatened to kill me.
I was used to the pain, but then he did something he had never done before. He walked up to my mother and slapped her. He didn't even hesitate, he hit the woman he 'loved'. I screamed as I saw my mother fall to the ground. I grabbed the first thing I saw, a wooden log that my dog had brought inside and hit him as hard as I could. He dropped and was out cold before he hit the floor, probably because of the alcohol he consumed. I helped my mum up, and ran upstairs and packed two bags. I grabbed all the close I could fit, my phone, chargers, my make-up, and all my money. I also grabbed the silver heart necklace my father gave me the week before he died. I ran downstairs and threw the bags into the back of our jeep, and got in the car. My mum was already waiting in the passenger seat. I started the car and asked if she was okay. "Yeah I'm fine, are you babe?" She asked and I nodded. I started to back out of the driveway when I remembered something. "Shit. Toby!" I breathed and jumped out of the car. I ran threw the kitchen, where he was still snoring and dashed into the living room. I saw him huddled into the corner chewing on a bone. I picked up my little Bulldog puppy and his bone and ran back to the car. I gave him to my mum and took out my phone. I dialed the number and pulled out of the driveway, speeding down the street. A raspy voice answered the phone. "Hey can my mum and I come over?"
"Sure, I'll unlock the door what's going on?"He asked.
"I'll tell you later. I'm bringing Toby okay?"
"That's fine. Bye M."
"Thanks C"
I hung up and continued to drive down the road towards CJ's house.
