I hope you liked the last two chapters, but they are nothing compared to how the rest of this book is gonna be. That was all child's play compared to this. Thank you so much for reading!!
Last time... Your typical King Creature chapter, short sweet and to the point. They are going to the nuclear power plant for new headquarters, since the last one got way too small. The chapter ends with King Creature saying, "This was what my whole pathetic excuse for a human life was leading up to... When the world belongs to me." Is it just me or is that line pretty awesome? I dont know, I like it a lot.
Lana
I couldn't believe it, but it was real. They were here, Sam was here, AJ was here, all the people that really mattered to me were here.
I buried my face farther into Sam's chest, like I couldn't get enough hug from him because I missed him that much.
"I can't believe you're alive," he says. I whisper back,
"Me too." When we finally broke away, I almost dove back into another hug. I just never wanted it to end. "Did everyone make it back here?" I ask.
"Yeah, I think so. Me, AJ, Mort, Vicky, Marissa, Leila, and Andrew are all here," he replies.
"What about Mrs. Ephri?" I ask, concerned. The grin drips off his face.
"Well, I guess not all of us made it... She got snagged while we were running away from them and..."
"And what?"
"Well... She... Got eaten I think..." He peeks over my shoulder. "Uuh, who's that?"
I was a bit shocked by this news, but I brushed it off. I was about to answer his question when Mort, Leila, Vicky, Marissa, and Andrew come out from a door behind the corner. Leila's eyes light up and she comes rushing at me, along with Vicky. I receive two more bear hugs from them, and then they step back.
"What, no hug from you Mort?" I tease.
"No no, I don't do hugs," he says with a dismissive wave. That earned a couple giggles. Now Mort peers over my shoulder. Chase shifts his weight uncomfortably.
"Oh, um, sorry guys, this is Chase," I introduce.
"Lana he's not wearing a shirt," AJ murmurs with wide eyes that probably should've been pointed a little bit farther upward.
"And Chase, this is Sam, AJ-"
"Does he own a shirt?"
"Mort, Vicky-"
"Man I reeeally hope he doesn't."
"Leila, Marissa and Andrew."
"Um, Hi," Chase says nervously. There was a chorus of hello's and hi's and one "Helloooo gorgeous."
"AJ cut it out," I say under my breath.
"I'm sorry, I can't help it," she whispers back. I suddenly smell another whiff of burgers and my stomach grumbles again.
"Oh man, do you guys have any more of those burgers?" Chase asks, reading my mind.
"Yeah, we have like three extra," Marissa replies. "I'll go put them on the stove and stuff," she says. Meanwhile, Chase begins to shiver and so do I. That's when I realize everyone is wearing a jacket of some sort except for us two.
"Hey Leila, do you have any sweatshirts I can borrow?" I question.
"Yeah, come with me and I will show you where we keep all the girls clothes," she says. I begin to follow her up the stairs when I remembered that Chase didn't even have a shirt, (to AJ's liking, obviously).
