Tessa's POV---------------
Clay and I wandered around the hospital for a half hour before actually deciding that he was ready to eat anything. He didn't say much, especially not of the situation on hand, but the fact that he was now in front of me- slowly- eating the soggy cafeteria sandwich gave me some hope. I watched as he pulled another piece of lettuce out and drop in on the flimsy plastic wrap the sandwich had came in. I sighed resting my forearms on the table, rolling around my bottle of iced tea.
"Talk to me, Clay" I told him. He looked up confused, but refocused his gaze back on his food once he realized what I meant. "You need to talk to someone, Clay, I know for a fact if it was you unconcious she'd be feeling the same way" I continued, hopeful.
"I don't know what you want me to say" He flicked his blonde hair out of his face slightly, shrugging his shoulders. He looked up at me leaning back in his chair.
"What are you thinking?" I offered.
"This very moment or-?"
"No Clay, about the situation, about Abby, about the coma-" I stopped as he sighed playing with his phone. He continued for a minute before turning it so the screen was facing me. It was his outgoing call log. He scrolled through at least four days worth of calls. They were all to Abby's cell phone.
"What if I never hear her voice again Tessa?" I wanted to speak but I had no words to say. One week, its been one week and he's already at breaking point? Did they have something more than we all thought? His eyes were watering as he locked his phone. "It's not even something I want to talk about" He stood up holding his hand out for me, I took it standing up and pulling him in for a hug. He accepted it, and I felt him take in a shaky breath before letting go. I just wanted to be some form of support.
"Go say goobye, I think you should go home for tonight"
Clay's POV--------------
Tessa walked by my side silently as we walked back up to Abby's room. A false hope sprung through my body when I heard two female voices in the room. As I entered though, I realised it had been Britney and June. They both gave me a sad smile and made their way to the door so I could have a moment. Cody gave me a guy-hug and said goodnight as he left. I leaned over her bed placing a kiss on her forehead. She was completely wrapped up in blankets, as they kept the hospital extremely air-conditioned. I pulled off my sweater and wrapped it around her. I brushed her cheek with the back of my hand and watched as the pink coloured her face after my touch. I leaned down resting my forehead against hers for a minute.
"Suprise me, princess" I whispered to her. "Wake up soon, I don't care if I'm on live TV, or jumping out of a plane, you wake up" I stopped for a minute smiling for the first time since she's been out. She was strong, she would pull through. "I love you, princess, do you see what you do to me?" I asked her. I placed one more kiss on her lips before standing up and turning to leave. Was that a pull I felt?
I turned back to look at my beautiful girlfriend, in her unconcious state. Did she hold on? I sighed shaking my head. I must have made it up, but still I couldn't stop the hope from rushing through me once more.
