Madeleine's POV
Corlette died.

Was all that I could think of when I heard from Rosetta that she drank some poison.

I locked myself in my room right after the ball, thinking about my dear idiotic little sister.

She had always been an idiot but she was a precious little cinnamon roll. For my parents and her fans, that is.

Thinking like that didn't make me feel any better so I hurt myself to sleep.

************
The next day,we all visited the castle's clinic.

Apparently, during the night of the ball,an assassin mage was sent to kill the 3 princesses who had escaped from the war.

Fortunately, the guards here captured the assassin before he could do anything to us.

But no one knew that he had put poison in our drinks beforehand.

Thank god I had a juice phase that night and chose to drink juice instead of water.

Anyway,we 5 took a look at Corlette's pale body at the emergency room and were horrified to know that Corlette would never ever be awakened from her beauty sleep.

Rosetta and I trembled and felt lifeless and the princes just stood there, trying to comfort us.

Yes,it was hard. But we had to move on.

3 hours of brooding and I had forget everything about Corlette.

Well,at least she's not dead yet. She's just sleeping. There's surely a cure to wake her somehow! And I will,no,HAVE TO find that cure!

-------------
The very next day,I had dedicated myself to searching medicines or herbs that might be able to cure Corlette.

Rosetta also agreed and helped me as well. We were focusing on it so much that sometimes we forget to take a shower, eat or even breathe.

The princes tried to stop us and asked us to relax but we weren't convinced. This is just our dedication to revive our dear sister,Corlette.

***********
A few days later....

I and Rosetta slept in the research room with our hands and faces dirty.

We only slept for 3 hours in a day and It obviously wasn't enough.

I woke up with my head feeling dizzy and my body heavy.

"Ugh..I feel sick." I muttered as I tried to get up but failed and fell to the floor.

I didn't try to get up and wasted that time thinking about what to do in my life now that Corlette was gone.

My eyes were red and for some reason,I felt like crying.

"..Corlette..."

Just as I was about to burst into tears,a sheet of blanket fell from above and covered my body.

I looked up to see who it was and there he was, standing like a prince on a white horse.

"Luciano? What are you doing here?" I asked as I stood up and patted my dirty clothes.

"You.." He said and slowly approached me,which I reacted by stepping backwards.

He put his hands on my cheeks and pinched them.

"Ouch ouch ouch! Whad er yow doin?! (What are you doing?)" I slapped his hands and then slowly rubbed my hurt cheeks.

"That's what I should be asking you right? What are YOU doing? You should also let us princes help you,you know!" Luciano said, bringing back my senses.

I had been so focused with this whole Corlette thing that I forgot about them.

Prince Leon came and carried Rosetta back to her room, where as I and Luciano went for a stroll in the garden.

"Thanks for bringing back my senses,Luciano. I'll be looking forward to work with you later.." I said as I flashed a real smile at him.

"Heh..You finally smiled again." He grinned.

I reached out my arms, indicating a hug and he immediately accepted it.

------------------
That day had changed me for the better.

The princes helped us search a cure too and so did the King, who ordered the scholars to search for a medicine that would wake Corlette up.

I and Rosetta were back to our old selves and we enjoyed everyday like it's fun.

Everything remained the same. The only thing that changed was that Corlette wasn't with us anymore..but she would always be in our heart.

And...another thing that had changed was........

*********
"Madeleine...!" Luciano called out to me,asking about some chemical formula.

He had started calling me by my name. What a good relief that was! I guess that my small goal was complete.

I replied him and we discussed the matter together.

It's been 1 month since that incident. We hadn't find a cure for Corlette but we will!

"Okay, thanks!" Luciano said and patted my head roughly, leaving afterwards.

Rather than being angry at him,I stepped backwards and touched my head, with a shade of red covering my face.

It's weird. I've been getting this feeling ever since we hugged that time.

C-could this be......
