chapter - 31 Exams can wait!!

Abhay's POV

"c'mon Priya. Get ready soon. We will be late." I said waiting on the couch. These ladies, they take all the time in the universe for just getting ready.

"I am coming. Just a few things." she said while pacing through one room to other. "actually it's your fault. You might have said yesterday. I would have packed everything."

"Okay, two hours aren't sufficient for getting ready?" I asked irritated. "Abhay I bought something for mother in law and father in law and now I am not finding them."

"okay!" I muttered under my breath. "here you go I am ready." She came running toward me.

"Abhay why are we going all of a sudden to your parents' home?" she asked me with confusion written on her face. "Because we haven't visited them," I said concentrating on the road.

"but—"I cut her off saying "c'mon Priya no buts. Don't ask anything more." I said. I am irritated today I didn't know why but I am.

Soon we reached my parents' home. They were very happy to receive us. Priorly they were upset that we didn't meet them in spite of staying in the city. I don't have any excuses for that. I just wanted to give Priya some time to mingle with everything, to absorb the reality and face the truth. Now I think everything is fine. So finally we are at my home.

"Wow, Priya. Finally, we got the chance to see you. Is Abhay treating you properly? Any complaints?" my mom started her blabbering without even giving chance to answer her questions. This is the reason why I didn't Priya here. I sighed.

"mom give her some time to answer." I interrupted her. Everyone burst out into laughter.

"so Priya. How are you?" my dad greeted her in the most polite way possible. That is the thing I love in my dad the most.

Everyone started to speak about something or the other. Soon the silent atmosphere turned into a fun one. I didn't think Priya will mingle so easily, in which she really proved me wrong. Even though we are related after the incident Priya didn't dare to speak anything in front of our family. So became a distant person. But now everything is fine.

"So Abhay where are you planning for a holiday?" my mom raised an unexpected question during the lunch.

"What holiday mom?" I asked looking at my food uninterested.

"are Abhay...it's your honeymoon." She said as if I asked a silly question. I choked on my food the moment I heard of her question. Immediately Priya handles my glass of water and started to pat on my head.

"What did I say wrong that you chocked on food?" she asked innocently.

"mom? Is this the time to ask about all these?" I asked curtly.

"what do you say Priya? I just suggested that you missed your honeymoon coz of your college. And now you will be having holidays soon after your exams. So I thought this is the right moment." she asked Priya defending herself. Priya's face gone blank, blood drained from her face.

She started to stare from me to mom with a blank expression screaming on her face. A smile started to form on my face with her expression. "c'mon Priya answer mom. What do you think of 'honeymoon'?" I asked her with a grain of humor in my voice.

Her eyes widened with my reaction. "Mom – I mean, actually---" she was stuttering so badly that I wanted to laugh at that instant itself. "Why are you stuttering Priya?" I started to tease her more.

"Okay, then it is fixed. The Maldives! it is then. Get ready young people to have some fun." my mom said, in fact, announced her decision. Once announced there would be no change. We both just nodded to her.
