The lunch room was crowded as they entered it and walked towards their regular table somewhere in the middle. The otherwise so dull and boring room is, for once, filled with colors and posters reminding everyone that Halloween is coming up. Only one week to go.

When they reached the table, Eric was the first one to sit down, quickly followed by the others. He was tired of the same boring school, with the same students and teachers. Nothing ever happened around here anymore, mostly because any gossip that traveled around the school was about him or his friends. And the majority of that, wasn't even true. Not that Eric enjoyed gossips or rumors, he couldn't really care less, but it became quite boring to be the center of it all, all the time.

Today though, people whispered about a new student joining the school. A girl, whose name hadn't been revealed yet. Apparently she was supposed to come to the classes after lunch, to get some kind of a half day.

Lunch was over fast and the lessons were starting again. Eric went towards his English classroom and sat at his usual spot in the back corner. He wasn't bad in school, his grade were almost perfect, and the only reason he skipped so many classes was because he did not find it interesting.

The classroom filled with students and the teacher arrived only a minute too late.

"Good afternoon class, may I present a new student that will be joining us for the rest of the year." The teacher searched for the new girl before waving to her, saying that she should go up front to present herself.

She was sitting in the desk next to Eric's and he was surprised that he hadn't noticed her when she came in.

"I'm Cara Parker and I moved here a while ago from California" Even thought it's her first day in a new school she didn't show how nervous she was, instead she gave the teacher a bored look.

It surprised Eric, and probably every other student in the class, that she didn't blush nor stumbled on her words as she presented herself. She looked confident and her looks were quite alright with blonde hair and brown eyes.

Quickly she got back to her seat opening the book that had been given to her earlier that day.

She was nervous, no doubt. But she couln't show it to the new class. Who would want to be friends with someone that can't even speak properly?

She shook her head slightly and gave up reading the book. Carefully she let her eyes land on each student in the class. The looked alright. Most of them pretty normal although some of them looked like the stereotypical people you would find in a high school. There were only a few girls that had put on way to much makeup and some boys that looked like they thought they owned the school. Nothing too dramatical.

"Mr. Coleman, where were you this morning? I got an e-mail from Ms. Smith saying you missed her lesson." The teacher had a stern look on his face as he watched the guy sitting in the desk next to Cara.

Cara looked at him curiously for a moment as the whole class was waiting for an answer. But he just shrugged and turned away from the teacher, looking Cara straight in her eyes.
