They stared into each others eyes before Eric gave her a quick peck on the lips before he reached down and intertwined their fingers. He started to walk back into the restaurant with Cara next to him.

They sat down at their table again and Eric let go of her hand. Their drinks were already standing on the table, waiting patently for them to come back. From the corner of her eye, Cara could see the waitress getting closer to the table again.

''A-are you guys ready to order?'' She said with a dark red blush covering her face.

''Yes, number 12 for me please'' Cara folded the menu and handed it back to the girl.

''I'll have the 7 thank you'' Eric followed Cara's lead while the waitress wrote something down on her notepad.

As soon as Catlynn had left, an uncomfortable silence filled the air between them.

''So...'' Cara started

''So...'' He scratched the back of his head and avoided eye contact.

''What the heck was that?'' She chuckled a little as he met her eyes for the first time since they got back inside.

''I don't even know'' he paused ''You're different'' He smirked

''Really? How?'' A confused look came over her face. ''I hope it's a good thing''

''You just are, and yeah, it definitely is''

She could feel how the heat raced up to her cheeks but she was saved by the waitress who came with their food.

''Here'' She said and slammed the plate a little to hard on the table infront of Cara. She placed the other plate more softly and carefully infront of Eric as she reached something to him. A note. With her phone number.

Cara notised the uncomfortable look on Eric's face as he unfolded the piece of paper. To save him from all the awkwardness of never being able to eat here again without having to explain to Catlynn why he never called her, she did the first thing she could think of.

''I'm sorry, but why are you giving your number to my fiance?''

Although it didn't seem possible, Catlynn's face became an even darker color of red as she mumbled

''Oh, fiance? I thought he was only a boyfriend or even friend'' she said insecure.

''Well we're getting married and I really do not appreciate when other girls hit on him''

''I'm really sorry, the dessert is on the house'' She said with a sad smile before she disappeared again.

As soon as she left, Eric and Cara broke out in a fit of laughter. Some irritated looks were thrown at them from other guests and they quickly settled down.

''So now I'm your fiance?'' Eric said with an amused smile

''Oh you know, I was just trying to save you pumpkin''

''Yeah, thank you about that'' he said and chuckled.

Cara had trouble to sleep that night. All she could think about was how Eric's lips had felt on hers and how fireworks had been flying in her stomach during the whole evening.
