Connor's POV
I watched her as she walked back over to her boyfriend and best friend. "Fuck!" I yelled, catching the attention of some people around me. "What's wrong babe?' A random girl walked up to me and started tracing her fingers down my arm. Normally I would've flirted back but I just wasn't in the mood. "Piss off you whore," I growled at her. She scoffed, flipped her hair over her shoulder then strutted off. I rubbed my temple's before heading out of the gym. Suddenly a strong hand gripped onto my shoulder, twisting me around.
I growled as Caleb didn't let me leave. "Dude, what are you doing? Was it Kayley? She can be a bit of a bitch sometimes," he asked me. A ghost of a smile flickered over my face. "Yeah, it was but she's right. I have to go anyway," I told him before pulling away my arm and walking out of the gym. Now he would go and pester Kayley about what I was talking about but I didn't really care.
I walked over to my car on the other side of the street and hopped in, noticing the amazing motorbike parked out the front of the gym. Suddenly Kayley stormed out of the gym, looking really pissed. I watched as she stomped over to the bike. She leapt onto it and started the engine. She quickly drove off just as Caleb and Jay ran out of the gym after her. Jay's eyes flickered over to me and I glared at him. He glared at me back but didn't say anything as I turned on the car and drove off.
I was going to go to a special place of mine. It may not make me calm but it let me pour out all my emotions. I got to the graveyard in 10 minutes. I stopped at the gate of the cemetery and took a deep breath. I opened it and walked in, heading to the west. I got to the gravestone and froze. I hadn't been here in a while. I sighed and knelt down. "I miss you so much Anna. Why did you have to leave me? You were the only person I could truly speak to about everything," I told her a tear slipping out of my eye. "I love you, why aren't you here?" I suddenly broke down. After the tears were done I started to explain what was happening with Kayley and everything. After I finished speaking I lay down beside her grave and looked at the now grey sky. I sighed and let my eyelids close.
"Whose Anna?" Asked a voice. I shot up, startled. I looked up and saw Kayley standing in front of me. Her eyes were red and puffy as were her cheeks. I instantly knew she had been crying. "Why do you care? We're not friends, remember," I told her, my voice icy. She flinched at my tone but eventually sat done next to me. She looked up at me, eyes wide and pleading. I caved in. "She was my big sister. We were always together, even in the orphanage but one day a couple came in. They wanted to take sweet, little Anna but didn't want her feisty little brother. They took her away and I didn't put up enough of a fight to convince them to take me too. I could've saved her if I had tried harder," I finished, tears sliding down my cheeks. In my peripheral vision I saw Kayley hesitate before wrapping her arms around my shoulders. She leant her head on my shoulder and I leant my head on her head. "Shh," she whispered, "it's gonna be alright". Her calming words soothed my and I soon fell asleep.
I woke up in an unfamiliar room. The walls were a light shade of grey. The bed sheets were royal blue and the pillows were the same colour as the walls. "Finally, your awake," said a voice. Suddenly Kayley's face came into view. I groaned, putting a hand to my head. I felt the bed dip beside me and knew that it was Kayley. "Are you ok?" Her voice sounded worried and soft. I nodded, "yeah, thanks to you". My eyebrows suddenly furrowed in confusion as I realised something. "How did I get here?" I asked and I saw Kayley smile. "After you fell asleep I picked you up and carried you here," she told me, a blush creeping over her face. "Wow, you're a lot stronger than you look," I mumbled. Suddenly Kayley's face turned cold and she got up off the bed as if I were poison. "I can't forgive you," she told me, "well at least not yet". She mumbled the last bit, hoping I didn't hear but I did.
She started to walk out of the room but stopped when I leapt off the bed and grabbed her wrist. I tugged her and she flew into my chest. Her cheeks turned red but she quickly pushed me away. "Kayley, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have left but I needed to. It wasn't my choice, I'm sorry. I promise I will tell you why just... not now. I can't, not yet. I'm sorry," I said, sounding like a chick. Kayley ripped her arm out of my grip. "Come back to me when you're ready to explain. Now get out," she growled, pointing out the door. I hesitated before walking out of the room. I navigated my way down the stairs and out the door. I realised that my car would still be at the cemetery so I sped up my pace. I suddenly stopped. I saw my car in the driveway. I smiled and hopped into it. "Thanks," I whispered, more to myself than anyone else.
I drove for about 10 minuets before getting to my adopted parents house. I stormed through the door, slamming it before me. "Fuck!" I yelled, jumping onto the couch. "Conny?" Asked a squeaky voice. I instantly softened as my little sister sat beside me. "Hey Bri, sorry about what I said. You shouldn't have heard that," I told her and she hugged me. Suddenly her shoulders started shaking and I felt tears drop onto my shirt. "Hey, hey, don't cry, It's ok," I gently patted the top of her head and she hugged me tighter. "Where... have... you... been?" She asked between sobs. "I have been hanging with my friends," I lied to her.
"Why?" She asked. I hesitated. "It doesn't matter ok. I'm here now and I won't leave for that long ever again, I promise," I told. She hesitated before nodding and wiping her tears away. "Ok," she replied, suddenly very cheery. "Connor! Where have you been!?" My adopted mother asked. I looked at Brianna and she nodded, hopping off the couch and running to her room. "With my friends," I replied sternly. "Don't lie to me mister," she yelled. I suddenly stood up and stormed over to her. I saw her flinch. "Why the fuck do you care!? I do what I want! I only come back because of Bri!" I yelled back. "You will never be my mother, you will never be anyone to me," I added, my voice as cold as ice. I saw the hurt flash across her face which was quickly replaced with anger. Before she got to say anything I stomped to my room.
