Chapter One

POV: Aiden

I've always been pretty optimistic. Even on my seventh birthday and when I almost died in my jumper. I didn't remember much about it especially since I blacked out, but my parents told me that before they wheeled me into the ambulance, I told them to not forget to give everyone cake before they left.

It's kinda hard now, especially after watching your parents die right in front of your eyes just a little over an hour ago with your little brother crying in the seat next to you.

Before I go on, I should probably tell you more about myself. My name is Aiden Brook, I'm 17 years old, I'm a Virgo. I don't think there's much about me that's that great, I'm just a normal teenager. I hang out with my friends on the weekends and jerk off at home when I'm alone.

Well, I was a normal teenager until the world ended.

Now you're probably wondering about the blubbering preteen in the seat next to me, his name is Caleb. He's been a pain in my ass for the past 13 years since my mother pushed him out of her, but I can never say I don't love him. I only say I don't when he's within ear shot.

Now it's just the two of us driving along some dirt road trying to get as far away from home as possible, scratch that, trying to get as far away from anywhere as possible.

"Where are we?" I finally hear Caleb actually talk. It's a matter of time, too! It got annoying just hearing him breathe. He needs to learn how to close his mouth and breathe out of his nose like every other normal person.

"Umm," I start, "not really sure. I was thinking of finding a place to get some food and water, it seems like we're gonna be out here for a while."

I see him nod his head from the side of me and I sigh. "I know this is scary and all, but I ju-"

"Shut up," he says cutting me off, "I don't need you to fucking pitty me" God, if mom was here this boy would be thrown out of the car and dad would've ran him over before pulling to the side bringing him back in.

That was when everything started just going slow, I heard a boom and I knew the car had been flipped over, but by what? What's going on was all I could ask myself.

The car had landed upside down on the side of the road and I looked at Caleb. His eyes were closed and his head was bleeding quite badly. I tried to yell at him to wake up, but I couldn't speak. What was wrong with me?

That was when I saw a pair of boots walking to my side of the door thru the window. The person had opened the door and practically screamed "he isn't dead!" she had screamed to whoever else was with her. Well, at least I think it was a girl, it sure sounded like one.

The stranger unbuckled me carefully and carried me out with the help of her friend. They set me to the side before helping my brother. God, I hope he's fine.

I still couldn't speak, even when they were carrying us to wherever they were bringing us. The last thing I saw was a blob of blurry blonde hair carefully drop me on the ground before I blacked out.
