Chapter 13

Leila's POV

"Mikey," I groaned, nudging him away. I didn't want to get up quite yet.

He poked my face again and laughed under his breath; I could feel it on my cheek.

"Babe, you need to go up. It's time for our perimeter check."

I groaned again but peeked an eye open, "Are you sure?"

'I'm sure,' Luke stated in my head.

'Fucker,' I muttered but drug myself out of bed. It was a long ass night. I couldn't fall asleep for two and half hours after Harry and Niall came here. For some reason, knowing that we were downstairs, I just couldn't sleep that well. But, Mikey cuddled with me and hummed songs until I fell asleep.

I didn't bother putting any shoes on as I walked downstairs, Mikey following behind me.

"What're you doing?" A sleep Irish accent asked.

I looked over at him, a brow raised, "Perimeter check. It's kind of what wolves in packs do." I didn't necessarily mean for the last words to come out so harsh. But they did and I could see the big blow in his face.

"Right.." He trailed, readjusting himself on the couch, "Let me know if you see anyone."

I rolled my eyes and slightly stormed outside. I'm just in a mood.

'You better have coffee ready when I get back,' I stated to Luke.

'On it,' There was a slight snicker to his tone but I let it go. I kind of have to. He's my Alpha.

Mikey didn't speak as we began to jog then changed onto all fours in mid air.

I stared straight ahead, focused on getting this perimeter check done as fast we can and unscathed.

Alpha ass better not be out here. I can not deal with him today. If he shows up, I might just rip his head off without any warning; just end all of this. Although, once the Alpha is killed, usually the pack goes on a full hunt to find who and kill them. But if me killing Jackson and his pack killing me means we can keep our land, then it'd be worth it. That's how much I want this to end.

I'm shocked that our pack hasn't been able to take care of Jackson by now. He's the reason our parents are dead and why I'm even having to think up of war tactics.

'Lei,' A soothing voice chimed in my head.

I looked back at Mikey, 'What?'

'You need to stop thinking so much cause I'm getting your thoughts and I don't like them.'

I stopped dead in my tracks and turned around. When he came to a stop, I snuggled my snout in his neck, 'I'm sorry. I really just want this to be over.'

'I know,' He nuzzled me back, 'I do too. But you're not going to die for it to happen. We've already suffered too much loss.'

'Yeah..' I sighed, 'We have.'

Mikey and I walked back inside to see everyone surrounding the kitchen counter, including Niall and Harry.

"What's going on?" I asked, reaching back for Mikey to take my hand and lead us into the kitchen.

"Coming up with plans, please, join us," Luke replied, holding out a mug.

I gladly took it and held it up to my lips as Mikey wrapped his arms around me from behind. I ignored the look and feeling I was getting from Niall. He might be my one but he's an asshole.

"I say we stay on our land," I stated.

Luke shook his head, "That's just it. Jackson has been on our land this whole time. He's just set up camp right on the outskirts of it."

"What?" My voice rose, my eyebrows raising, "How could we not have noticed?"

Luke's eyes closed and he let out a deep breath, "Because it's land you don't know about. It's only land that I perimeter and I came across it before. But, I'm positive Jackson never saw me so he doesn't know that we know where he is."

"Are you suggesting we surprise attack?" I cocked a brow, now taking a sip of my coffee. I savored the bitter taste; more than most people would.

Luke ran a hand over his face and sighed, "I don't know.. But I definitely don't think we should wait for him to attack us."

"But it's our land," I pointed out, "We have the advantage cause we know all the ins and outs. If he attacks here, we have a better chance."

"Those two don't know the land like we do though," Ashton remarked, pointing at Harry and Niall.

I muttered some words under my breath while rolling my eyes, "Oh on the contrary, Ashton." I eyed Harry and Niall, "They know it more than we think they do."

Harry nodded with a heavy sigh, "Yeah.. It's one of the reasons Jackson hesitated to throw us out, but we had already decided to leave."

"And we know some of his moves," Niall added, crossing him arms, "He's going to be attacking soon to say the least. He wants this land bad and for who knows what God damn reason."

"Cause it's rich soil and can hold one of the highest Alpha powers. In ranking of Alphas, Jackson is still below Luke," Joanna stated, annoyance behind her tone at Niall's own ridiculous statement. Even I wanted to reach over and smack him on the back of the head. But I didn't, I just sipped my coffee.

"After all that, we still have no plan," Calum huffed.

I rolled my eyes, "What're your thoughts, Hood? Cause last time I checked, you didn't suggest anything."

'Would you keep the harsh comments alone? Niall and Harry are one thing, but your own pack is another,' Michael said, his tone soft. He's not trying to make me mad at it.

'Yeah,' I sighed, 'Sorry. I'm really not sure what crawled up my ass today.'

Mikey laughed internally as I felt it vibrate on my back, 'I don't know either.'

"What're those two talking about?" Niall asked, cocking a brow.

I rolled my eyes, "There's a reason it's in our heads. Anyways... I say we increase our perimeter checks in that area; to keep a closer eye on Jackson. Then when we sense him attacking, we go in first. Catch him off guard cause it's still our land. We do have the advantage. Push those wolves to their limit. I'm talking about taking them to the creek and getting them stuck into the current. Lose them in the boulder buildings and lock them in. And don't forget about the tree stump hideaways. If you're struggling, find one and hide, then call someone for help. You do not go down without fight, you hear me?"

"Are you sure you're not the Alpha?" Luke asked, a smirk growing on his face.

I smirked, shaking my head, "No, I'm just the kick ass Beta of the best Alpha."

"Hey!" Jo exclaimed, causing me to laugh aloud this time.
