As I exited the cave I saw pack warriors facing the attacking force. I was still weak from helping Destiny but I would still do my best with anything this pack needed.
There were at least 100 rogues surrounding the pack. What the hell was going on?
Sis, we're surrounded, if you think there are 100 there, you should check the eastern, western and southern boundaries. We're completely surrounded, Darac mindlinked me.
"Alpha, what should we do?" a pack member asked.
With so many rogues I would be risking too many lives to fight them. I couldn't place their lives in danger like that but I knew there was no way for me to defeat them even if I changed because I couldn't be in more places than one. And if I told my brother and sister to fight at the other boundaries it would still leave one unprotected and my siblings don't have the capacity for fighting like I do. Why the heck did Ravic leave with our fighters? This seems a bit too planned. Ravic leaving a week ago with some of our best fighters to help a pack, we had alliances with, with a rogue situation; Destiny changing too soon and meeting her mate a week ago; and Kira becoming ill all of a sudden a week ago.
The rogues were coming closer but it's like they were waiting on a command to attack.
"I'm not sure what we are going to do. I can't let you guys attack because too many lives are involved."
Baby, we're coming. We're in the town next to ours, Ravic mindlinked me.
It's been a while since I've spoken to him because I didn't want to distract him. But we are still short on warriors. We have 100 warriors presently and another 75 coming with Ravic and the rest of the pack are females and children. This was a complete slaughter and elimination of the pack if this battle started.
Ravic, there's nothing the small amount of warriors coming with you can do. We're surrounded by at least 400 rogues.
Shit!
My thoughts exactly, Rav.
I can't lose you.
Nor I you.
The rogues parted and a man came forth. I could feel the anger radiating from him.
"Who are you? What do you want?" I took a step towards him but stumbled a bit. His eyes zoned in on the action.
"You seem a bit weak, Alpha Sabella." He said it with so much scorn.
"I won't repeat myself again, who are you?"
"I'm your death." He gestured to the army that he brought to destroy my pack. "Why don't I tell you a story? It's a sweet tale actually. It's about my father."
Why the hell do we want to hear about his father? Destiny asked.
Just listen, prob it'll give us some clue as to why he planned this massacre.
"My father was a part of your pack but not whilst you were alpha it was about the time your father was. He left my mother, his mate, and his only child to blindly follow this man and he got slaughtered. What would possess a man to leave his mate and go to a pack without her? Your father made him so many empty promises. Those seemed to comfort him more so than my mother. My mother died and it's like he never even felt it. He was so detached from her but no matter. I lost my family. It's only fair I take away everything that matters to him too."
"You're sick!"
"You don't even know how sick I am, Sabella. But no worries if you're still alive when this is over I'll take your spawn and raise it." He turned away.
"You're pregnant", Rachel and some pack members asked. Under the circumstances none could congratulate.
"Don't tell Ravic. No one. Please. The way how this looks I don't want him to feel any worse should anything happen." I was choosing my words carefully because I didn't want the pack to get scared.
Like how we are? My wolf said.
We just got to think of something before he makes his move.
There was one thing that I could do.
"Rachel, do you remember the safe guard spell you taught me?"
"Yeah, but that spell takes too much on a person. Even if we were to do it here, the other boundaries wouldn't be protected. "
"There's another spell I've been practicising but it requires two witches. It can get rid of the rogues but its dark magic."
I got her full attention then. "We can't use it then! Dark magic requires blood, Bella."
"Then I'll offer it."
"But you're pregnant."
"I won't die and I don't intend on killing my baby. Just get ready to get me from the brink of death."
She looked worried as did my other pack members.
"I can't risk my pack dying, Rach. Not again and worse over something that isn't their fault. It's the fault of some kid who holds a grudge and intends to kill an entire pack for a decision his father made."
Everyone was at a standstill. Cause the slightest move could trigger a battle like never before. I hope I was making the right choice. My hands went to my belly instinctively.
We'll survive, baby. I know we will.No one make a move towards them ok. I've got a plan but just go with it, I mindlinked the pack.
Walk with me Rachel. Slowly.
She followed me.
Grab that knife for me.
I didn't want to talk out in case the rogues hear the plan. I grabbed a bowl that was by the door of the cave and slit my hand over it.
It's going to need more blood than that for dark magic, Sab.
I know. This spell is for the safeguards.
But that isn't how its done.
Just trust me. I need to offer blood in order to spread the safe guard wall through the territory.
But that'll keep Ravic out.
At least he'll be safe.
I slit my hand more and started to speak the words for the safe guards. I felt it go up.
Sabella! He's unraveling the safe guards!
Shit!
