It was nearly thirty days after before the princes and princesses saw each other again. The winter in Ostaria was seeming to come to an end, promising a renewing season for West Ostaria who had been in sorrow in the few weeks since Princess Piper's dead. And everyone seemed happy with the kingdoms being friendly and the wedding coming fast in two and a half months.
Luke raced down the streets, something he had not done in far too long, in perhaps over a month. He had been longing to tell Scarlett the news ever since the announcement had been made. He reached her door and knocked, rather loudly.
Scarlett opened the door, very surprised to see him. "Luke!" she said, looking around him up and down the street. "Come in." He gave her a quick hug as she shut the door behind him before he excitedly explained to her.
"So, all you have to do is not get chosen by one of the princesses?" Scarlett asked once he had finished.
"Yes," Luke said. "It shouldn't be that hard."
A smile spread across Scarlett's face. "Oh that's wonderful!" She was almost laughing now. "Just wonderful!"
Scarlett jumped up from the kitchen table, grabbing Luke's hand pulling him up too. She began dancing around the room with him. They danced until Luke saw the time and said, "I've got to go."
They stopped dancing and Scarlett frowned. "I wish you could just tell King Samson about me so you can see me for longer than like forty minutes."
Luke sighed. "I promise. After the wedding is over, I'll tell him. I promise. And then I won't have sneak out here whenever I find the time." They hugged and Luke ran off.
Scarlett watched him go and, as always, she was sad to see him leave. But today she was hopeful that this crazy, foolish, secret relationship she had with a prince might actually have a happy ending.
