When King Samson and Queen Isabelle arrived home after dinner, they were smiling.
Edmund, the eldest, greeted them at the door with his six brothers, including Luke, behind him. He saw their smiles and said, "All went well?"
King Samson huge smile grinned back at his son and he replied, "We are now the one unified nation of Ostaria!" Cheers erupted through the hall from royalty and castle workers alike. King Samson continued, "Those Easterners were stubborn but we did it! After so many years we've done it!"
They all walked into the foyer and sat down while some workers left to fix some dinner for the weary King and Queen. King Samson continued with recounting the argument and the final vote. The conversation excitedly continued until Queen Isabelle turned to King Samson and said, "You haven't told them about the princesses!"
The boys looked at each other curiously. King Samson nodded to Queen Isabelle. "Oh right," he said. "To establish the unification of the island you will be getting married."
"What?" Jack, the youngest exclaimed. The others gave similar looks of confusion.
Queen Isabelle sighed at her husband. "Wonderful execution, dear." She faced her sons. "King Henry and Queen Rachel have seven daughters. The eldest is twenty-two and each is a year older than the next."
"Like us," William, the fourth in line noted.
"Yes, exactly," Queen Isabelle confirmed. "You are each going to be married to one of their daughters in May!" Queen Isabelle was glowing with excitement.
The boys smiled too, unsure what to think of this until Edmund spoke, "That's wonderful, mother. When shall we meet these ladies?"
"We'll go tomorrow morning after your father announces the unification," the Queen replied. "Speaking of, it's getting late and we have a big day tomorrow. I want you all to look your best to meet the princesses." And with that she and King Samson left.
The brothers sat in silence for a few seconds before Edmund said, "Well, you heard mother. Good night." They all retreated to their rooms for an attempted good nights rest.
They all felt differently about this marriage announcement. Six of them felt varying levels of excitement, nervousness, fear, and confusion. But Luke had only one thought running in his mind, over and over. How was he going to tell Scarlett?
