Chapter 7: Innocent

Sometimes it's hard for me to go back to my past with Butch. I didn't want to go back to that terrible incident. It still scares me that I was so close to dying. Butch cant accept that I almost died which means that he actually does have a heart.
It shocked me how much I still cared about him. I care about him but I dont love him. If anything, I care for him like a brother. I know it sounds weird but I dont love him any more my heart and my soul belonged to Jack. He was my heart and soul and if I lost him I'd be broken.

My thoughts were interrupted by a loud bang outside. It sounded fairly similar to a gun but wasn't that exactly. Me, Jack, and AJ looked out the window. it was Butch, he had followed us to AJ's house. i didn't want to talk to him but i did.  

"What do you want Butch?"

"I just want to talk, Jade. Please give me five minutes."

"Okay, fine. Common in."

"Thankyou."

i wasn't very happy that Butch knew where AJ lived. i never took him with me when i went to her house so he mustve thought that i was seeing someone so he followed me. 

We walked up to AJs room and when we walked in i could tell that there was tension in the air between him and Jack. AJ however looked very happy to see him. i wasnt okay with that. 

"Okay Butch you wanted to talk lets hear it." i was trying not to show that i wanted to cry but Jack knew me better and came and hugged me from behind.

"thanks." i whispered in his ear as he put his head on my shoulder.

"anytime." he replied.

"okay so  i just wanted to tell you that i was sorry about what happened that night. also that i was thinking about that night. i wanted to tell you that you were right about what happened and i know that i lost you but well, theres something that you need to know."

when AJ heard this she looked up with fear in her eyes. i dont know why but she immediately began shaking her head. i ran over to her thinking about what happened last summer.

"AJ? is that you?"

"Yeah, who else would it be?"

"No one just wanting to make sure that what happened last summer wasnt gonna half to happen again."

Butch interrupted with a worried look in his eyes. "What happened last summer?"

"Nothing you need to worry about. Jack will you show him out please?"

"With pleasure."

he began to walk out. "And Jack! DO NOT DO ANYTHING THAT YOU WILL REGRET."

"okay."

JACKS POV

As i was walking Butch to the door he turned to me.

"Jack, ive seen the way she looks at you. its not like the way she used to look at me..."

i cut him off. "Yeah thats cause youre a complete A-hole."

"True." he continued. "but thats not what i mean. She looks at you like she looks at the Marine life. With love and adoration. She hopes that one day she will get the chance to help out the innocent creatures of the sea."

"i dont think she ever mentioned that."

"Shes not ready yet. she has to learn to trust you. Anyways, she looks at you in a way that she has never looked at anyone before so dont hurt her cause youll never have the chance to do it again. She is the most innocent perfect girl that you could ever find so dont let her slip away and dont ever leave her."

"you still care about her dont you?"

"No, i just dont want AJ to half to be the one that she goes to. AJs like a sister to her and she knows that AJ will be there for her when she needs her. thats the reason why she didnt want to leave with me last year. that and the fact that i hung her best friend head first over a cliff."

and with those words, he walked out the door.
