Kal was sitting quietly at the counter in the kitchen, when Ollie burst into the apartment, a slightly upset look on her face.

"I'm done, Kal. I am so done. I just want to move to a new city and start over, and make the right friends, and the right choices-"

"Whoa whoa whoa..." Kalana said, putting her hands up.

Ollie dumped her bag on the counter with a sigh, before crossing her arms.

"This girl at cheer made the mistake of asking me 'what was up with me.'"

Kal winced, inhaling sharply. "Big mistake on her part."

"You're telling me."

Sitting there for a second, Kalana pondered what she should do for a second. Her best friend was obviously incredibly upset. Why? Something that her mother was forcing her to do made her unhappy. So maybe... she should do something that she wanted to do...

"I have an idea."

"Hm?" Ollie looked up, giving her friend a quizzical look.

"How 'bout you and I go get our hair done. You were telling me the other day that you wanted to get your hair cut and dyed, correct? Let's go do it."

Oliver's eyes widened and she perked up. "Really? Are you serious?"

"Of course I'm serious," Kal said, standing up and starting to walk towards the front door, grabbing her keys out of her pocket. "Let's go right now. It'll be fun."

Her friend's expression immediately turned into a grin, as she ran after Kalana, shutting the front door behind her as they left.

By the time they'd got to the hairdresser's, Ollie was so incredibly excited. All her life, she'd wanted to cut her hair short and give it color. But, her mom said it would look "tacky" and "unprofessional."

Well, guess who wasn't there to tell her what was stupid or not?

"Oliver?" one of the hairdressers called, looking up and around the room for her next client.

Ollie stood up, and walked over to the counter, a huge smile still on her face.

"That's me."

"Right this way," the woman said with a smile, starting to lead the fourteen year-old to one of the sears in the back.

Biting her lip, she slowly sat down in the large, surprisingly comfortable chair, and stared at herself in the mirror. Her mom always said that her was beautiful and sophisticated, but she had a hard time believing that. For as long as she could remember, her hair had been the same, boring brown color and the same length. Incredibly and annoyingly long.

It was time for a change.

"What wouldja like today, hon?" the hair lady asked, making eye contact with Ollie in the mirror.

"A pixie cut please. And I would like to dye the fringe a light purple," she answered, the grin on her face never faltering.

This was the first step to becoming the person she always felt she was inside.

A few hours later, both the girls left the salon extremely happy.

Ollie had gotten the exact cut and coloring she wanted. She loved it. It was absolutely perfect.

Kal had cut her hair too, but not a short, and dyed her whole head a dark red with black highlights.

Rest assured, the trip was a success.

The pair was now sitting in a Starbucks that was located across the street. Happily drinking hot chocolates.

"Your hair is pretty rad, I have to say," Kal commented, smiling. "Love the purple. It suits you."

"Thanks," Ollie said, grinning as well as she brushed her fringe to the side a little more. "And I see you went with TØP colors, nice, nice."

Kalana laughed. "Yeah. I decided that I wanted to be ready for that concert I just bought both our tickets to."

Letting out a squeal, the younger girl hid her face in her hands. "I still can't believe you actually bought me tickets for a Twenty One Pilots concerts for my birthday. I don't deserve you."

"Oh yes you do. And lemme tell you, we are going to have the best night of our lives. We'll go to that concert and come out of it happier, and we can cross that one thing off our bucket lists."

All Ollie could do was smile across the table at her friend.

Kalana was amazing. She truly was.

There was no way on Earth, anyone could have a better friend.
