Caleb's POV
It didn't take long for me to get back to camp.
I vapor traveled a little, and it took me a day or so. It was easy to sneak into camp because of the welcoming of the three heroes. Percy actually looked happy. I remembered Posiedon telling me he was proud of me. Nostalgia built up in my chest. I wished I could talk to Posiedon. He helped me. He helped me on that day on Olympus. I smiled sadly.
"Thank you father."
"Caleb?"
I looked back to see Luke.
"You're back!!" Luke said brightly.
I nodded slowly. "Yeah."
He scanned me quickly. "You look tired."
I sighed. "My uncle died." I made up.
"... Oh. Thats why you took so long."
I nodded.
"Go get some rest. It'll be fine to get out of these things."
"Thanks."
I passed through the cheering campers. Percy was burning his shroud. His eyes lit up when he saw me.
"Caleb!"
I smiled and waved.
"Thanks for-"
"Hey hey hey. Don't say anything about it."
"... Why?"
"... I sneaked out of camp so..."
He nodded slowly. "I see."
I smiled and patted his back. "Nice job."
"Thanks."
I stared at him for a split second. I felt like my heart would burst of nostalgia. I so wanted to go back to the time when I was 12, offically claimed by my father, and when things started to go right.
Would things go right for me now?
"You're a lucky guy." I blurted.
He raised an eyebrow. "Why? The fame?"
I shook my head.
"Claiming?"
I sighed. "I wish things would go right for me for once."
"... You know-"
"You can't imagine my life Percy. And the things I know about the world."
~
I flopped down on the floor, and unpacked my bags.
