Lost In The Cold

Chapter 7

Ace lies in bed, wide awake. He stares up at his bedroom ceiling with his arms resting behind his head and tries to sleep. It's no use. I can't sleep until I figure this out.

He gets up from his bed and walks over to where the zip bags were. He had already scanned both the feather and the shiny objects but most of the DNA had been washed away by the snow (Hey I'm not a person that knows all so I might be wrong). Without it, he couldn't track down the unknown who had taken Xia somewhere.

Yawning, Ace hops into his bed and pulls the covers over his head. His mind was still confused and focused on what his plans were for today. Thirty minutes later, he finally rests his thoughts and goes to sleep.

Kit was already awake and sitting on his bed full of energy while Silkver and Soni were still asleep. The flame on the tip of his tail was burning brightly which meant he was ready for anything.It's really boring when I'm the only one awake here. He thought to himself.

He was about to scream like an alarm clock to wake up every one else until he heard a knock on the main door. He wonders who would be awake at eight in the morning and knock on people's doors as he walked to Soni's room which was right across his.
Kit was about knock when Soni opened the door.

"Good morning Kit! Up already?" Soni smiles then walks past him.

"Duh! I do it every morning!" Kit says to him, who had his hand on the main doorknob.

When he opened it, Kit saw Ace standing at the doorway. He was talking to Soni, but Kit couldn't make out the words but instead, heard low mumbles.

As he walks towards his bedroom, Silkver walks out of hers.

Kit hides behind his bedroom door and waits for her to come near.

"Last night was so weird..." She mumbles to herself.

Then Kit jumps out from his hiding spot with a really loud "BOO!!!"

She stopped to notice him standing right in front of her but she never jumped or even had a sign of fright on her face. Still looked tired like every morning.

"Nice try, kitty." She says walking past him.

"Why can't I scare you anymore?" He whines.

"Because I know you're there. I was expecting that anyway. But I think I would prefer if you said something else besides "boo". That's what all little kids say."

"I'm not a little kid!!!" He yells at her.

"Whoa, you need to cool off." Ace tells Kit. "I don't think anyone would want to start off the day with a grumpy mood." He sits on the couch.

Kit looks at the flame on his tail which had grown a bit and blows it gently. "Okay..." He says in a calm voice.

After breakfast, Soni, Silkver and Ace huddled around something in the living room that looked like...a map of the woods? Kit didn't really know what was going on and how someone had mapped out the woods. But he decided not to ask and get involved in the situation. So he just stayed in his room and played around with fire.

Awhile later, Silkver opens Kit's door a little. She peeks inside and sees Kit making shapes with the flame on his tail.

"Nice stuff you're making there." She says opening the door a little wider.

"Thanks..." He says quietly, almost inaudibly.

She sits down cross-legged beside him. "Okay, Kit. So uh...Soni, Ace and I are going out today again. We're just looking for...something like what we did yesterday."

Kit stops and looks at Silkver. "But I don't want you to come back hurt. Can't you stay and play? Can't Karu go?" He begs.

"Sorry. But Karu doesn't want to go out. She's too cold like you. Plus, if I play with you, you might get mad at me. But I will promise I won't come back hurt in any way like yesterday." She smiles and stands up.

"See you Kit!"

"Bye."
