Lost In The Cold

Chapter 9

The three follow the mint and white colored jackal through the winter woods. It was already noon and the wind had completely died. It was pretty warm and bright.

Minty walks through an evergreen bush and so do Soni, Ace and Silkver. They push leaves and branches out of the way and soon they found themselves in a clearing. In the short distance, they saw a small house with smoke escaping from the chimney. But right beside it was a huge garage that looked like it could fit two trucks inside.

"I wonder why someone would have a huge garage but a small house." Ace says to Soni and Silkver.

Minty runs back to Silkver and tugs her hand. "There! That's where I live!" She runs joyfully to the small house.

When they stood on the front porch, Ace and Soni exchanged glances.

"How are we going to explain to this person how we found her?" Soni asked.

"Well..." Ace paused for a moment. "Let's just tell them the truth of how we found Minty." He rings the doorbell.

As soon as the door opens, Minty starts to bounce. "Mr. Jazz!" She runs to hug Mr. Jazz.

"Minty there you are!" He says picking her up to hug her. She giggles.

Silkver leans over to Soni and whispers loudly in his ear. "OH MY GOD SHE'S SO ADORABLE I THINK I'M GONNA DIE."

Soni takes a step away from her. "Oooookay that's nice."

Ace clears his throat. "Hello, uh, Mr. Jazz." He says to the beige winged fox whom he believed was called "Mr. Jazz".

"Actually, my friend, my real name's Jay. That's what Minty calls me. I don't really know why but she still does." Jay says, putting Minty down.

"Oh. Well then hi Jay. I'm Ace." Ace turns to Silkver. "This is Silkver" then he turns to Soni "and her brother Soni."

Jay smiles brightly. "Thanks to you three, you brought Minty back home unharmed!"

"Actually, we found her lying lifeless in a hole." Silkver pipes up. Soni and Ace glare at her.

"You make it sound like she almost died." Soni said.

"Oh." Jay glances over at Minty. "Atleast she didn't break anything."

Minty looks at herself to check if there were any damages. "Nothing broken." She says giving them a reassuring thumbs up.

"Anyway, we have to get going now." Soni says, dragging Silkver behind him. "We didn't have lunch yet."

Jay whispers something into Minty's ear. "Wait!" She says stopping them. They turn around to Minty's direction. "Don't you want to eat lunch with us? As a thank you for bringing me home?"

Soni and Ace glance at each other with questioning looks. Silkver smiles at them cheerfully as if she was saying 'yes please?'.

"Uh..." Ace thinks for awhile. "We'd be happy to!" He nods and puts on a smile.

Silkver and Soni follow Ace inside the little house.
